Вступая по следам Гомера и других греческих поэтов в созданный их воображением Олимп, мы сталкиваемся с богами, образы которых разительно отличаются от всего того, что входит в наше понятие "бог". Богам Олимпа не чуждо ничто человеческое. Они никого и ничему не учат и не наставляют, ибо у них нет твердых нравственных понятий, подобных тем, которые выражены в священных книгах современных религий. Напротив, их поведение - яркий пример "семи смертных грехов". И не случайно само понятие "грех" отсутствует в их языке. Боги лишены авторитета, без которого немыслима ни одна религиозная система. Они бессмертны, но не всемогущи, ибо над ними, как и над людьми, стоит судьба.
