About Tactical NAV

Tactical NAV was created specifically for the military service member and was built from the ground up using real world feedback by troops serving in the field.

This app is an indispensable tool. Map & plot navigational waypoints, share location and waypoint information with other Tactical NAV users by email using encrypted security, and even take photographs stamped with GPS coordinates. These are just some of the tools the U.S. Military and NATO Armed Forces use to conduct combat operations on a daily basis - and now, these tools are available to YOU in Tactical NAV.

A MUST FOR THOSE WHO HAVE AN IPHONE IN A-STAN
"The GPS is right on the money (using a DAGR to compare with). The best and most useful feature is the capability to take pics with the coordinates stamped in ... a must have app for all deployed military members who actually leave the wire."

AWESOME APP
"Was just in Korea and the app worked perfect. The new nav to a grid is great also."

You may be a soldier on active duty, out there putting your life on the line for your country, or maybe you brave the wilds as an adventurer, hunter, hiker or camper. In any of these situations, it’s important to have the right tools along to keep you on target and safe.

Thanks to Tactical NAV, you can have everything you need for navigating anywhere, all in one handy application for your Android device.

This app puts the military grid reference system (MGRS) and field navigation in the palm of your hand. Yes, you can now access the same resources used by the U.S. Military and NATO Armed Forces worldwide.

Soldiers will appreciate how Tactical NAV can help in the field. What are users saying about Tactical NAV

However, it is now nearly three years since the last update. There are bugs big and little needing addressed, and missing features that would make this app invaluable to all users. If these things continue to remain ignored, it wouldn't be long before another developer came up with something that would completely render this one obsolete

C70%
by C####:

July of 2014 the developer promised that the app had not been forgotten and I should expect an update soon. July 2015 no update has been pushed

N70%
by N####:

It won't let me measure distance across the ground (feet, yards, meters, miles, nautical miles, km) and won't give me a heading between two points (magnetic, true, grid). Pretty much worthless without those two things in my opinion.

C70%
by C####:

I'm not able to input proper MGRS grid, there are no tactical graphics to use, not able to measure distances between points.

I70%
by I####:

the map tiles would not download for my area in australia and was very buggy. would be great if this could be fixed as the concept is awesome.

by N####:

This app desperately needs offline capabilities. And also needs to be on par with IOS. Android users are being left in the dark. As a 19D I use it all the time.

N70%
by N####:

Great app but I wish there was a way that I could import/export waypoints and possibly even create and save routes. You can input a waypoint but you cant navigate to a saved waypoint. All it shows is a close up of your point. I would like to see where I am and where the point i am going to is. If there already is a function it is not showing for Androids. I would like to see a Latitude and Longitude input so I can work on the water with it. Looking forward to the upgrades.

Ive seen this app work great on another phone but for some reason it crashes when I try to use the camera function

N70%
by N####:

This app can help me to find a way out when someone or me get lost. I am getting used to it.

N70%
by N####:

App needs to be upgraded to match the apple version. And to run on tablets. The limited android version runs on my old phone but not my new tablet

A70%
by A####:

Need an offline mode. I'm in the military and use this app a lots when training. But if I go oversea without data, this app is useless. Need a way to save the map for offline use

Z70%
by Z####:

Thank you for a wonderful and useful app. I have had great success marking out routings for hikes and way points etc. PLEASE add a tool to calculate distance from way point to way point as well as cumulative total distance and adding the first 2 reference numbers onto the yellow grid lines and then I will absolutely upgrade to 5 stars. Thank you very much for a great tool.

Z70%
by Z####:

Severely lacking in the interoperability with its apple counterpart. Also,it lacks many of the features seen on Apple. I only purchased it to be able to recieve map overlays for the TOC , which it cannot do. Purchased over a year ago and it's still lacking the same functionality as iOS. Good concept, great on Apple, disappointing on Droid.

So smart phone applications for the military are definitely a niche thing - especially since the military has their own suite of software and private development going on, as well as their own security concerns. In it's current state on the Android operating system, this app provides a useful tool for pulling your current 10 digit grid, as well as the cursors grid. There is the ability to save way points, but could be improved. I appreciate this app for what it is, not what it could be. Thank you.

D70%
by D####:

So what does it do?? Extremely limited functionality. Let's you just place way points save them retrieved saved sets sure but I can't do anything with the way points. No distance from one to the other or route setting.

Z70%
by Z####:

Need to upgrade features still shows empty lots or property (buildings) need update satellite picture , now this is 2016 and there's no response from you guys and still no updates

If you do a lot of navigation in your field of work this app is legit. No issues and always gives the right grid. A must for any deployable Soldier.

Z70%

This app has everything you need for general grid references Maps but I'd like to see 8 figure grid reference lines option this would make it easier to pinpoint Pacific location on a map

Z70%
by Z####:

Could use offline maps and a red light feature that carries into the compass

A must have one for each team's member!

Works a treat. Even with only GPS running

Great APP, would love to see version for gear S watch

Z70%

Love it for pulling a 10 figure grid reference but missing some features that anyone in the field would definitely want...

Z70%
by Z####:

Can't get camera to play nice with tax nav on my note 4

Z70%
by Z####:

love it, but cant get it to import wapoints

Z70%
by Z####:

If you include offline Maps this App will be almost perfect. When you do I will give you 5 stars

T70%
by T####:

NO moving map. Yes, your position marker moves, but the map must be manually moved with it - annoying. NO configuration settings. NO offline map storage. NO compass calibration. NO feeling of credibility as a Mil-spec app 'for the troops' due to update lag. It does run without errors on an LG G3.

T70%

Use it all over the east coast for military land navigation, convoys, and tactical planning. However the android app doesn't have the addition of the military symbols line the apple version. If it did, would give 5 starts.

T70%
by T####:

Basically is has a great setup. Could be better. More tactical overlay options, routes, offline map capability. Keep building on this app.

K70%
by K####:

Wish you could color code way points, add color coded routs of ingress and egress leave notes, draw on the map as if it were a real map with a transparency on top , AO(s) numeric/alphabetic coded as well as a expandable mag grid with the option to view numeric / alphabetic call system. Maybe the option to enable real GPS tracking with other users of your choice (with a call sign and choice of unit type symbol as we as color coding for each ( maybe for admin purposes with force on force training

After androids latest lollipop update the app no longer functions as designed at all.

I'd like to be able to drop multiple waypoints on the map and be able to see the distance and direction from one way point to another not just the distance and direction from my position. I used this app on iphone, it was much better than this android version. Please make th is app better.

T70%

It doesn't work with the Note 4. Disappointed.

Z70%

This is a good app for its purpose allows you to set waypoints. Use red light and see military grids

It's expensive when you consider that the version for the iphone is way better. Back in July of 2014 the developer promised that the app had not been forgotten and I should expect an update soon. It's now mid November and there is no update to be found. A real shame.

H70%
by H####:

I've used this on iOS and there's a ton of features not available on the android version. Why not? It's been a long time since any updates and developer promises but doesn't deliver. Can't recommend.
