Michael Goodell

“MG”, as he is known to his fans, hails from “Gold Country” in the Sierras of Northern California. Playing drums from the age of 3, piano at 9 and guitar at 14, Michael honed his craft in every school band (jazz, marching and orchestra). Early influences include Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Herb Alpert. With the total support of his parents, Michael started multi-track recording at home during his high school years, writing original songs and playing every instrument in his first home studio. By 16 he formed his first serious band, “Ambrose Thunderfingers” and began producing & performing in local rock concerts. By 18, Michael had written and recorded 100+ songs and was distributing his music to a growing fan base.

Later influences included Creedence Clearwater Revival, Three Dog Night and Led Zeppelin, which totally changed his life and the way he “heard” music. In his mid-20’s, Michael co-founded TRILOGY with Kevin Jachetta, beginning an exciting period of writing, recording and touring across California, working with artists such as Greg Khin, Y&T and others.

The next two decades found him in various studios as a musician and producer, as well as touring with many bands. Michael wrote and played all instruments on the single “Take What You Want” with Terry Dailey (“Rick Dagger“ of “Rick Dagger and The Blades“) singing and producing. The song made it to Billboard Magazine’s “Pick to Click” review. His next single “Our American Heroes” (in response to the first space shuttle tragedy) was written and recorded in a day, with Goodell playing all instruments and singing. In 1999 Michael also won an award for the soundtrack to an independent film “A Better Man”, written and recorded in a single session.

A few years later found him working with life-long mentor Leonard Haze from Y&T, recording tracks for a SUPER-rockin’ album titled “60’s On Fire”, blazing covers of one-hit wonders from the 1960’s. New releases include “Keep Your Ducks In A Row” on Marshmallow Napalm records, a ultra-jazz/funk collection of instrumentals with Michael again writing and playing all instruments (with special guests). Today he owns and operates a 40 track digital recording facility, writing and recording constantly.
