ইসলামে পার্থিব শিক্ষা লাভ করার জন্য নারীকে শুধু অনুমতিই দেয়া হয়নি; বরং পুরুষের শিক্ষা-দীক্ষা যেমন প্রয়োজন মনে করা হয়েছে, নারীদের শিক্ষা-দীক্ষাও তদ্রূপ মনে করা হয়েছে। আয়েশা রাদিয়াল্লাহু ‘আনহা এবং অন্যান্য উচ্চ শিক্ষিতা মহিলারা শুধু নারীদের নয়, পুরুষদেরও শিক্ষয়িত্রী ছিলেন। সাহাবী, তাবে‘য়ী এবং প্রসিদ্ধ পণ্ডিত তাঁদের নিকট হাদীস, তাফসীর ও ফিকহ শাস্ত্র অধ্যয়ন করতেন। অতএব, শিক্ষা ক্ষেত্রে ইসলাম নারী-পুরুষের মধ্যে কোনো পার্থক্য করে নি। উভয়ের অধিকার সমান।
