About Tracy Bethea Agency
The Tracy Bethea App gets you closer to the world renowned gospel radio personality.
Recognized as one of the most impelling and influential voices of the Mid-South and
national radio, Tracy Bethea has been capturing audiences since her debut over the airwaves
in the late 1990s. With a career that balances broadcasting, producing, public relations,
consulting, event planning, community efforts and endorsements, Tracy is an inspiring figure
of the new age.
Tracy’s warm and engaging approach as a radio personality and music programmer has made
her a sought-after motivational speaker, expressing her love and admiration for individuals.
Although she has never been considered a newswoman, Tracy’s arrival on the scene began in
1987 in the newsroom at the legendary first all black formatted radio station in the nation,
AM 1070 WDIA. Throughout her career progression, Tracy soon became the female voice
of Gospel on 1070 WDIA and for 10 years, was dubbed as “The Young One” by her loving
audience.
Tracy’s passion and roles were heightened when offered an opportunity of launching several
radio stations including the 24-hour Gospel station, KWAM 990 The Light, blending the
perfect sounds of traditional and contemporary music where she served as chief operator.
Tracy’s success with Radio has been nationally noted, and in 2002, she played an integral part
in Clear Channel’s launch of 95.7 Hallelujah FM, an all day Gospel station in the Memphis
metropolitan area. As assistant program/music director and mid-day air personality, Tracy
contributes to the positive movement within the community. Ever-enthusiastic, she is always
venturing into new creative grounds, and it is safe to say that there is no one who finds her
offensive on the airwaves, but rather upbeat with a spirit that spreads encouragement,
confidence and prosperity to her audience.
A veteran of more than 20 years, Tracy has received numerous awards and honors and is
heavily involved in giving back to her community. She is a Stellar Award Winning
“Announcer of the Year” inducted by the Stellar Awards, a two-time Stellar award winning
“Radio Station of The Year” presented by the Stellar Awards, labeled as the premier Gospel
awards show. In 2004, Tracy was the first Female Radio Personality of the Year, receiving
the Gospel Bridge Award for her contribution to radio in the Memphis market. She has also
been featured on the cover of the April 2009 issue of NuStyle Magazine - a premier lifestyle,
fashion and beauty magazine for Memphis women - as one of the Memphis Queens of
Radio. The nationally acclaimed Urban Network Conference, an entertainment industry
publication, online portal and multi-media company bridging the urban entertainment
community, honored Tracy in 2009, for her countless contributions to the gospel industry
and the Memphis gospel community. She
has recently added to her already impressive resume a position on the board of directors for
The Collective Brain Trust, board member of the Memphis & Shelby County Music
Commission and producer of the annual Gospel Music Heritage Concert. She is also a
preliminary judge for BET’s Sunday Best auditions.
In 2010, Tracy launched her own agency, The Tracy Bethea Agency, where she provides
public relations and special event consulting, talent management, public/motivational
speaking and media training. She is a member of Stellar Awards Gospel Music Academy
(SAGMA), the official voting body of the Stellar Awards as well as Memphis Association of
Black Journalists, an organization of media-related professionals advocating on behalf of
black journalists worldwide. She is the instructor at the K.T. Whalum Jr. School of Public
Speaking, and creator of the radio segment “The Gospel Truth in Gospel News…Honey”,
syndicated on other Hallelujah FM radio stations.
