ראשית דרכה של הישיבה החלה ברחוב קטן וצר בשכונת הבוכרים. בדירת מחנק שחציה מתחת לאדמה הצטופפו כ-14 בחורים שקובצו עי הרב אלבז לכולל הראשון של בעלי התשובה. כיום בליעהר מונה הישיבה למעלה מ-200 סניפים בכל רחבי הארץ
