About Milt's Barbecue
Milt’s BBQ for the Perplexed is the place in Lakeview for an elegantly casual meal, whether you are 8 or 80. Moreover, it is a gathering place, a community center without the pool, a part of the growing vitality of Lakeview. From our high quality meats smoked on-site, to our exemplary service, we aim to ensure that your visit is more than just a meal. Serving lunch and dinner, Milt’s is the only kosher restaurant (under cRc supervision) in Lakeview.
MILT’S MISSION IS TO NOURISH THE BODY AND THE MIND. TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY AND CONVERSATION.
We recently lost a cherished member of our community, Jeff Kahan. Well-informed and opinionated, thoughtful and passionate, Jeff was a friend who enriched our world. Confined to a wheel-chair by MS, Jeff lived a fuller life than most. Jeff was a man of many thoughts and many opinions. He had a strong love of Israel and sense of Jewish identity. Jeff passed away in the summer of 2012 with far too much life yet to live.
As part of Milt’s mission, we will be featuring speakers from around the world to address issues of politics, history, spirituality, humor and more. To support Milt’s community programming, we have established the Jeffrey F. Kahan Memorial Fund, a donor advised fund at the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago. In addition to gifts by many of Jeff’s friends, Milt’s will donate 100% of its profits to the Fund. We know Jeff would have attended every event, perched front and center, asking probing questions, nourishing the community with his involvement. Through the Jeffrey F. Kahan Memorial Fund, we hope to keep the memory of Jeff in our hearts and in our minds.
