Mia Koo (born Aug 22, 1990) is a LA/NY based pop singer, writer, producer, and actress. In 2004 she started a band with her sister Ava “The Kung Fu Girls” selling over 10,000 units independently of their debut album “Thinking of You” produced by Tom Higgenson of Plain White T’s. Touring all across America for 4 years playing House of Blues tours, the Viper Room in LA, to the Knitting Factory in New York. Mia eventually signed to APA Agency on the same roster as Flo Rida, Andrew McMahon, Thrice, Bayside, Ray Jay, and many more. Although an active musician since then, her writing career blossomed in 2007 when she wrote “Gimme a Chance” and “Our Time Now” for the Plain White T’s on their record “Every Second Counts”. She wrote/sang on multi-platinum single “Our Time Now” charting at #66 on Billboard Pop 100 and #29 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks. “Our Time Now” was also featured as the theme song for ABC Family’s “Greek”, appeared on American Idol, iCarly, Wii Cheer, Sims 2, and Ultimate Band. It was also featured in the Disney Channel Original Movie Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board and a Norwegian commercial for As the Bell Rings. Kung Fu Girls came to an end in 2009, but as a writer Mia pushed through and never stopped writing.
