About Hickory Lane
Executive Chef Albert Alvarado was raised in and around Vineland, NJ. After graduating from Vineland High School, Albert pursued a degree in Culinary Arts & Sciences after being accepted to Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in his field of expertise, Albert decided to travel and work in as many different establishments as he could. Through this period in time, he worked in cities such as Providence, Boston, New York, Atlanta, Orlando, and New Orleans. The range of kitchens were everything from hotels, banquets, catering, fine dining, casual dining, even cafeteria dining; all with the design to give himself more diversity and understanding for the hospitality industry.
After 7 years of traveling, Albert decided to move to Philadelphia to be closer to his family. Upon his arrival, he took a position with Plum Tree Café at their restaurant in Radnor. He quickly impressed and earned the privilege to help develop and reopen the Moshulu in 2003.
In 2010, Albert joined the ownership team at Green Eggs Café and quickly took the newly opened South Philadelphia location to prominence. His creative work on the menu and service led to the opening of 2 more eateries within the span of 2 years. Under his leadership and with his creativity Chef Alvarado while at Green Eggs collected TWO “Best Brunch in Philly” Awards and numerous other accolades.
Now in 2013, Albert has joined Hickory Lane as its Executive Chef and is focusing his culinary talents and team to make Hickory Lane a premier Brunch, Lunch and Dinner destination in the Art Museum / Fairmount neighborhood by offering a diverse menu with quality product and ingredients while offering great value.
