About Articles In Sound
Articles In Sound (Coventry Music) is part of a Heritage Lottery funded project by 2-Tone Central. Exploring Coventry and Warwickshire music like never before. There is no definitive 50 object, as the user is invited to make their own list at www.articlesinsound.com
Pick your tours of Coventry and Warwickshire and have fun as you learn about our fascinating musical history. The Coventry Music Museum is Britain's only pop music museum, award winning and ranked number one on Trip Advisor of things to do in Coventry.
This App is based around the CMM as it houses the definitive collection of Coventry and Warwickshire musical artifices, beginning with the medieval Coventry Carol right through to brand new artists who are setting the local scene alive right not. Of course we also celebrate everything in-between, just some of the names you will find represented in our showcases are, Reg Dixon, Delia Derbyshire, Frank Ifield, The Sorrows, Lieutenant Pigeon, Jigsaw, Don Fardon, Hazel O'Connor, The Specials, The Selecter, King, The Primitives, Pete Waterman, Fun Boy Three, Special AKA, Panjabi MC, Stereo Nation and The Enemy.
That's just some of the big hitters, but there are many more with incredible stories to tell. The museum has its own studio room where the young (and young at heart), can (try to) play our instruments (including the curious Theremin). 2-Tone music is well represented with The Specials and The Selecter and the Rudy's room, a reconstruction of a Ska dans bedroom is a favourite with guests. The John Lennon bench display tells the story of John & Yoko's visit to Coventry in 1968, and we even have our own record booth and an original Ray Race desk as used in The Specials video.
This app will help you define your place in the Coventry & Warwickshire Universe, made for visitors and locals alike. It's here you make your own connections and find out what put Coventry music on the map.
Its a perfect interactive guide to give you information on the songs and artists you may already know, but also pointing you in the general direction of new ones.
