About Big Brothers Big Sisters NEI
ince 1972, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana has operated under the belief that every child has the ability to succeed and thrive in life. The children we serve have the greatest need and least opportunities and the majority of children enrolled in the Big Brothers Big Sisters programs live in single-parent and low-income families, or households where a parent is incarcerated.
As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”). Providing a system of ongoing evaluation and support, Big Brothers Big Sisters is proven by independent studies to help families by improving the odds that Littles will perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEI service area encompasses thirteen counties across Indiana and Michigan including: Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Kosciusko, Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley counties in Indiana and Branch, Hillsdale and St. Joseph counties in Michigan. Our main office is headquartered in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with a satellite office in Warsaw, Indiana. Big Brothers Big Sisters of NEI supports more than 2,000 matches annually.
