A.I.M.H.I.G.H. is an acronym for Artists in Mississippi Helping Ignite Great Hip Hop. A.I.M.H.I.G.H. will provide a new and unconventional approach to the music industry in Mississippi by becoming completely independent in all personnel, marketing, accounting, distribution and production needs. We will spotlight a new and innovative sound. A.I.M.H.I.G.H. will lead the way in Mississippi’s movement to get respect in the hiphop community. We will provide fair compensation to workers, a fair return to owners and investors , and fair royalties to its artist and producers. We will be a label for the people.

Beginning as just a thought, A.I.M.H.I.G.H Recording Label is becoming one of the most recognized labels within the Mississippi music community.

A.I.M.H.I.G.H. Recording Label began as PressPlay Entertainment. PressPlay was founded in 2009 by local Mississippi disc jockey Donte “Dj Kool Kid” Dorsey, and producer Terrance “PurpCobain” Nelson. The two had very high expectations for the quick expansion of PressPlay, but things did not take off as expected. After just 2 years together, the group decided to go their separate ways. Though it appeared to be the end of it all, Nelson did not want to give up on the vision so soon. He was determined to create another label and this time he knew it had to be successful.

Nelson took the knowledge he learned from working with PressPlay and applied it to devise another new opportunity. On April 6th 2011, A.I.M.H.I.G.H. was born. Rapper Cal Deezi’s Traphic was the first official tape released under A.I.M.H.I.G.H. Artist in Mississippi helping ignite great hip hop was the new movement.

Although A.I.M.H.I.G.H. is not just a music label, the music is what spearheads the movement. The gritty and new age sound of A.I.M.H.I.G.H. is comparable to the 1980s1990s hip hop era. Back then, groundbreaking musicians like NWA, Run-DMC, and WU-Tang Clan help set the standards high for the music industry. This is exactly what A.I.M.H.I.G.H. is doing. The label is planning many upcoming projects which include rapper T-lo Da Champ’s Originality mixtape that is set to be released in the summer of 2015.

A.I.M.H.I.G.H. Recording Label is the ideal illustration of how to create something out of nothing. Great things are in store for A.I.M.H.I.G.H. With an all encompassing passion for the music, A.I.M.H.I.G.H. Recording Label brings life to what was an almost lifeless industry. As they would say: “You either aim high, or duck low.”
