About Afroda
At the beginning I did not dream of being a fashion designer, nor planned for it. When I was young; my hobby was sewing clothes for dolls like Barbie and that i enjoy sewing and then play with it and her clothes.
After I grew up; i began to sew my clothes myself because of my limited income. and also because most fashion cloths at that time in the market does not fit my taste, then I noticed the attention of my friends and people that I encounter frequent questions about whether the source of my clothes are imported from the global fashion houses.
One day; my friend asked me that I design her wedding dress party because of her not being able to pay for a wedding dress, so I decided to design her dress that fits her body shape in terms of length knowing that shape of the body sometimes imposes certain design in relation with the body.
During the wedding party she wowed all present invitees, although the cost was very little.
On the other hand, Sewing quality does not satisfy my ambition which is precisely what I faced later-on from issues.
When I moved to London; I decided to study fashion design in college, this step had a big role in the expansion of knowledge and arrange my thoughts in the field of designs and color consistency.
I believed in the inevitability of goals and that one of us should seek to aim high to achieve through work, but opportunity didn’t avail at the time.
Then moved to the United Arab Emirates, specifically Dubai, it was the starting point in terms of the opportunity that I seek and cite in the field of fashion design, i found the most appropriate way is to Create a customized brand under the name (AFRODA), which was adapted from my name.
Participated in the first exhibition (Almazhar), so this was my first experience in marketing and how simple my experience in exhibitions, but thankfully achieved fame during the show and I was able to market a large number of Abaya in the first exhibition, even though still the problem of sewing quality was apparent in the UAE as before in Kuwait.
Then I decided to stop a bit because my desire to develop sewing quality was very important, and because the highest customer satisfaction goals to expand my profit margin, because I think the profit comes later after pleasing customers.
After that period I have resumed work again thus was able to find tailors competent enough to participate in several exhibitions, such as Alwafi & Almass also participated in shows in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that led to huge increase in sales and customer inquiries.
I always give advice to clients and I deal with them as friends and I advise them to choose colors and design that is suitable for them.
I always introduce my designs from the experience I gain from my various visits to different parts of the world that also led me to introduce western styles in Arabic Abaya with the introduction of colors and fabrics.
