This app has been created by National Research Centre for Banana, Trichy, Tamil Nadu, a premier R&D organization under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, with a vision to increase the production and productivity of quality bananas through technological interventions. The mandate areas of research of the NRCB are National banana gene bank management, coordination and validation of research for enhancing and sustaining the productivity of banana, transfer of technology and capacity building of stakeholders for enhanced and sustained production of banana, and referral services for monitoring the quality of micro-propagated banana plants.

The NRCB provides services for improved technologies in production, protection, post-harvest technology and value added products in banana. The institute has a referral laboratory approved by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, for virus indexing and genetic fidelity testing. This app is designed to provide basic information about banana production, protection, calendar of operations to be followed by banana farmers, contract services offered for various stakeholders in banana cultivation, etc. It provides answers to frequently asked questions of banana farmers.
