About HealthRise India
Funded through Medtronic Philanthropy, HealthRise is a five-year, $17 million global program specifically designed to expand access to care for cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes among underserved populations. The goal of HealthRise is to contribute to a reduction in premature mortality associated with CVD and diabetes by 25% in targeted geographies. Its primary objectives are to :
1) increase screening and diagnosis of CVD and diabetes; and
2) increase management and control of CVD and Diabetes.
HealthRise is focused in Brazil, India, South Africa, and the United States. In each country, it works to support innovative demonstration projects that empower people living with these diseases, build the capacity of frontline health workers to better address the needs of these populations, and support policy and advocacy efforts.
HealthRise is a global partnership comprised of global organizations that bring unique strengths to the program - the Medtronic Foundation, Abt Associates and the Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation. The Medtronic Foundation provides vision, thought leadership, and financing to the program. Abt Associates facilitates cross-country knowledge sharing and support for the HealthRise global and country level programs through coordinated program management, grant management, convening global stakeholder engagement, communications and thought leadership. The Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation (IHME) leads HealthRise community-based needs assessments, literature reviews and monitoring and evaluation in each country with support from local partners.
HealthRise India is currently focusing on community based interventions in two districts: Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and Udaipur, Rajasthan.
To obtain timely and good quality data from the project, a streamlined, scalable, sustainable and cost effective MIS software has been developed.
