Elephant Butte

Elephant Butte Lake is the largest lake in New Mexico. Situated in the rugged high desert of the South West, the lake is a big favorite for water sports of all kinds. Houseboats, pontoon boats, speed boats, fishing boats of all shapes and sizes, all can be found here with their crews having the best of fun.

From catfish and crappie, to walleye, bass and the biggest stripers around, the fishing is awesome.

When you want to take a break from the cooler water of the lake, the City of Truth or Consequences is five miles away with some of the best hot mineral springs in the country, boasting water between 100 and 113 degrees. Over fifty tubs and pools of every size and shape provide first class soaks in waters with more healthy minerals than Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Add Caballo Lake State Park, the second largest lake in NM, and the Rio Grande River, and you can probably see why Sierra County really is an oasis in the high desert.
