About Cite This

***THIS APP IS NO LONGER MAINTAINED***

CiteThis a Android application that assists in the often arduous task of academic referencing. By the use of cameras fitted on compatible Android phones, CiteThis scans the barcodes of books. Once a book has been scanned, the user can select a variety of referencing formats and save them to project folders directly on the internal memory of the device.

Projects can be browsed and reference records selected allowing you to edit as well as view any cover art of the book along with other useful information regarding it's publishing. The referencing style of any given reference record can be changed as many times as deemed necessary by you. CiteThis also supports: manual ISBN entry, manual referencing and academic journal search.

Projects can be exported via your chosen email in the format of an EndNote file and plain text.

Please understand this is a free app with no advertising, so I try to respond to fixes ASAP but it's primarily a side project of mine.

Not sure why others have problems with it. It does what it says for me. Great app. If the author considers using the *.ris format instead of the *.enw, it could make the app compatible with more reference managers.

I downloaded this and used it to create a reference for a book in the Harvard style and it wasn't formatted correctly. This app has one function and it can't even do it.

Good for collecting books en masse but fails to correctly attach the .enw file through various mailers. Bug fix? 8/11/13 Bug fix worked perfectly. Now adds attachment with various mailers. Thanks.

Great for University assignments! However, can not copy and paste directly from App ! One must export it into email and attempt to copy and paste it from there. Otherwise, it's brilliant time saver!

After checking that this app was compatible with my phone (Samsung Galaxy Pocket), I purchased and downloaded it. Unfortunately the only function that does work is the manual entry option. There is no red scanner line, or even an option to start the camera (only QR scanner or Google Goggles), when I touch the scan button. Manual entry is fine but I wish I didn't have to enter an email address to export every time - there should be an option there somewhere to remember that.

After some initial problems, it seems to have sorted itself out. Excellent app and well worth the small price tag

Harvard referencing seems to be broken. It should be: Baron, D. P., 2008. Business and the organisation. Chester: Pearson. But currently it is displayed as (exactly): Baron, D P 2008,Business and the organisation. Pearson, Chester. There are grammatical issues. Chicago is currently closer to how it should be.

Just doesn't work on Nexus 7 w/JB 4.2 at all. Downloaded the barcode app (didn't pick up info from the scan app) and tried manual entry of ISBN to no avail. Don't have the time to fool around and then get disgusted. Reported the trouble to developers anyway.

An excellent app that gets the job done. Exporting to EndNote is just an email away. Highly recommended!
