DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria for Android
Every time I open it it says unfortunately criteria sets have stopped
The videos are not playing. Only includes DSM criteria, it is not DSM5 desk reference. Very limited.
The app crashes on start
Set criteria not responding
Since the last review I cannot open it. It crashes before it starts.
Have found this to be very handy in my psychology practice. But as of today, Oct 2nd 2016, it doesn't seem to have the coding updates that took effect Oct 1st. Hopefully they re coming very soon?
Not current after October 1, 2016.
Just a desk referance, not detailed, for that price I expected the complete DSM-5. I want a refund this app was not what I wanted even slightly.
Great portable reference. No complaints. Put out more apps, APA.
Thank you APA for this app. A good update will be though to identify certain criteria that a patient / client displays and from them the app to suggest different possible diagnoses. In addition, linking this app to practical therapies (opening only to professionals) could be of tremendous added value. Still, it is a 5-star app. Congratulations!
Comprehensive. Great to have the resource in your pocket!
APA, you never cease to impress me—no matter if its a new edition of the DSM, or if its a piece of technology. I really appreciate having all the diagnostic criteria items just a click away, and I LOVE how I can bookmark the diagnostic criteria of disorders. Wow, I'm amazed. Thanks so much (I don't need to carry that giant book around anymore)! =)
It's frustrating that the app is unusable in poor Internet connection areas because of the persistent license check -- which we paid for. I like that the criteria text can be enlarged at will. A few things to note, though. (1) For an app, the price is prohibitive... costing the same price as the actual book... (2) that you cannot highlight, underline, copy and paste, or annotate -- which almost tempts me to get the book so that I can interact with the content.
So far so good
Beware, this app only provides brief descriptions of the diagnostic criteria. For the price, you would think one would get access to the digital version of the complete text - very misleading. Hope an update will provide this one Smart phones or via computer as companion to this app.
So far so good
I very much like having this available on my smartphone however the interface leaves a lot to be desired. Navigation appears to be one way with no back to the index without restarting the app. This is not acceptable and I hope that an update to this app will soon be released resolving this major deficiency. I expect an app with a $70 price tag to perform better than this.
Just got it! Looks good!
Unlike most apps that download books, magazines or articles, this one treats you as unlicensed when you are not actively online and prevents opening or using the app. You have paid and you are licensed, but cannot use it.. This therefore is a legally dubious restriction which is not prominently described in the marketing. Maybe a massive demand for refunds wouldpersuade developers to conform to app publishing norms and expectations?
Good app, but can't use offline. I work in a rural area without wifi in many areas and this app is useless in those conditions. Irritated that I will now have to spend $ to get book as well, entirely defeats purpose of app, also not useful for those of us serving in rural areas. Very disappointed.
Now please provide us with the full textbook of DSM-V, it will be greatly appreciated. Update: cannot acess app when on airplane mode! It require authentication every time!!! What's the point of having an off line resource if you cannot access it off line?!!!!
Still nothing done to improve the app after 4 months??? -- A necessary evil Great to see that the app option has been taken up readily by the APA. (3) As for online verification, I find that slightly bizarre... does it really need verification every time?
The first negative I've found so far (have had it for an hour) is that going from the text/code level back up the steps you came down is tricky, hitting the back arrow closes the app down and restarting seems to be the only way back to the broad category level. The way to do it is by hitting the side marker which takes you back to the next hierarchical level up and then you can go back up w/ the back arrow. It'd be nice if they fix this, but I'm getting used to it. I haven't yet found any way to adjust settings either Update: I've had it for a few weeks, and I've now found a few problems. Firstly code numbers are missing in s a few places such as "major neurocognitive disorder" and I've had probs in a few other places in finding the actual codes, requiring that I return to the book. It is also annoying, in that it requires on line verficiation before it'll start -- every time!, This is troublesome if I don't have a good connection (like in my office, parts of the hospital).
App has generally easy access to content. However, plagued by numerous problems. User interface is NOT Android-native, so hitting Back button acts out of line at times. Splash screen adds several seconds, so launching the app can feel like it takes awhile. Crashes on startup approx 1/4 of the time. Cannot select, highlight, or copy content. The app refuses to work offline, insisting that it contacts the Internet for a license check, meaning you CANNOT use this in clinics or hospitals with poor network connectivity.
Nice to have assess to the DSM on my phone..
Easy to use.

So much lighter I rushed into this 'cause I was tired of lugging around the big book. This app seems to do it all, fairly intuitive and easy to use. Great way to study the changes while waiting in line... It uses a simple drill down process, going from broad category to more specific diagnoses, then provides adequate text to explain criteria, provide codes. The App crashes and says "set criteria is not responding" did factory reset and reinstalled and app still does not work. This app used to work great. Unfortunately myself and several others are having the same problem so don't spend your money until it is fixed.
