The Sacramento Bee newspaper for Android
It lacks some features, but rarely crashes. I appreciate the free articles, though I do wish they were unlimited. It's not ideal, but hard to find anything better for CA politics.
SacBee is extremely left. Their articles are opinionated and biased. Whatever happened to just reporting the news and checking your ego and personal beliefs at the door. SacBee is one of the big reasons why Sacramento will always be a 2nd class (at best) city.
Articles are well written but with a lot of bias and way too much negative opinion about state workers and the Sac Kings players. Should just stick to the facts and leave the rest of it alone. But certain staff writers seem to think we care what their take is. Secondly, push notifications are frequent. However, the information in the notification is often incomplete. When clicking the link you aren't taken to the pushed story. You have to hunt for the story in the app. Often the story isn't written yet.
Updated review: Continuous pop-up saying limit of free articles has been reached and to subscribe or sign in. The "current subscriber" option selection takes you to a "new account" page, with no option for current subscribers to sign in, resulting in an error message that "user already exists". Still have not fixed the problem of thumbnails linking to completely different stories. This happens every single day. New articles in the "Local" sections are inserted hap hazardly in no chronological order among articles that have been sitting there for months. Absolute indifference to customer service. Messages sent asking for help with specific issues are never responded to. The Sac Bee evidently knows they're the only game in town and just don't care. ********* In an effort to continuously increase advertising, the Bee has now made the app unusable. First, they went from the small ad at the bottom of the screen to a full screen ad that pops up every third or fourth article. Annoying, because you have to "pay" for content since they raised home delivery rates to cover access to electronic content. Now, a full screen ad that creeps up from the bottom until the whole screen is filled, with no cancel out button. Unusable.
The Sacramento Bee news app is easy to use, does not cause problems with my Samsung Galaxy Edge S7. The push notifications are unobtrusive, can be quickly viewed or ignored.
works fine but requires subscription. LAME!!! everyone should be able to educate themselves about the ongoings of their city.
Wasn't too bad but unfortunately like most media nowadays has the bias liberal opinions not really news they tell you what you're supposed to think
It's good! I just wish notifications for stories or alerts opened directly to the relevant page rather than the main feed.
Excellent coverage of the the Central valley, the metropolitan area, and northern California. Has been that way for 60 years that I know of.
The Sacred Bee has been a must-read news source for years. Love the convenience of having the app.
Very sold ap and good Sac area coverage
Very biased reporting ....
Would get 5 stars if there wasn't a monthly article limit (soft paywall)
News of the area. Of course, this is not the newspaper, but highlights are reported.
Love it.less paper cluttering my home.
I enjoy reading the news as it pertains to my city. Articles are very insightful and well written.
Received the Oroville Dam alert first on this app.
Never found the TV listing using this app.
Been a Bee subscriber for years. Nice to be able to access it in a mobile friendly format from anywhere.
Enjoy this app for SacBee very much
I like the way edited on display
Easy format to follow, and unbiased news. Love it.
Good news summaries
Great local coverage
Very convenient
I very much like the ease of access to Weather. Far better than the KCRA 3 website. One complaint: when I select a Bee notification on my phone, I'm NOT taken to the item referred-to.
Print edition kicks you out constantly. Too many ads The print edition paper is full of ads why are there more ads. I feel like a fool paying for this
Great writing and good app. My only complaint is that notifications dont take you direct to the associated article.
Nice to carry the Bee app where ever you go for the latest breaking news ...
On my Android mobile, I get a vacation about story X. I click on the notification, and I never find story X. Basic UI dictates that if you get a notification see story X you click on the notification for story X you should wind up at story X.
Necessary ads are unobtrusive, and navigation among different sections is easy. Use it as my main source for local news.
Great app for keeping up on new legislation and laws that affect Californian's. Lots of other local news too.
Like the news. Wish that the alerts link to the related article instead of going to the home page.
I live in a media desert, so it is great to read a real newspaper online.
I lived in Sacramento for many years and I love reading about the going ons there. I have been away for many years but my heart is still there.
Love getting news notifications where ever I am. Thank you
Love having easy access to latest news on my phone, sorted by news category. Quick scan and then click through for more detail if interested.
Love getting it online. Up to date news. Should be able to keep up with the RiverCats. Great article writing!.
Like the news. Wish that the alerts link to the related article instead of going to the home page.

So many better news apps and websites. Almost impossible to find anything and not useful for perusing the news. They choose the stories they want you to read. FAIL.
