Sedikit Sejarah Dari LENONG BETAWI

Lenong adalah seni teater rakyat yang hidup di masyarakat Betawi. Banyak sejarahwan memperkirakan, seni teater rakyat ini sudah muncul pada akhir abad ke-19 dan awal abad ke-20.
Ada yang bilang, lenong hanyalah hasil teaterisasi dan pengembangan musik Gambang Kromong. Gambang Kromong adalah sejenis orkes yang memadukan gamelan dengan alat musik Tionghoa, seperti Sukong, Tehyan, dan Kongahyan.
Versi lainnya berpendapat, lenong berasal dari pengembangan wayang Abdul Muluk. Kesenian itu sudah dikenal di Sumatera sejak 1886, yang dipengaruhi oleh komedi parsi dan wayang Tiongkok. Wayang Abdul Muluk masuk Jakarta sekitar 1910-an. Nama Lenong sendiri muncul pada tahun 1920-an. Pada saat itu, musik pengiringnya adalah gambang kromong.
Namun, menurut sejarahwan Betawi, Alwi Shahab, kelahiran Lenong tidak bisa dipisahkan dipisahkan dari perlawanan diam-diam terhadap sistem tanam-paksa (cultuurstelsel). Namun, perlawanan ini mulai meletus ketika diterapkan sistem tanah partikulir (swasta). Akibatnya, tanah-tanah milik rakyat dirampas oleh penguasa kolonial dan kaum kaya. Sementara rakyat, yang sudah tidak punya tanah, dipaksa bekerja di tanah partikulir itu. Sudah begitu, rakyat dibebani pajak dan kerja-paksa.
Penindasan itu melahirkan perlawanan. Terjadi pemberontakan rakyat di mana-mana, seperti pemberontakan Cikandir (1836), peristiwa Cikandi-Udik (1845), dan peristiwa Tambun. Dari situ juga lahir tokoh-tokoh pemimpin perlawanan rakyat, seperi Si Pitung, Si Jampang, dan Entong Gendut.
Dulu lenong dipertunjukkan melalui “ngameng” dari kampung ke kampung. Pertunjukan dilakukan di alam bebas, tanpa panggung. Pada saat pertunjukan berlangsung, ada pemain yang ditugaskan mengitari penonton sembari meminta sumbangan.

Slightly History Of lenong BETAWI

Lenong is the art of theater folk who live in the Betawi people. Many historians estimate, folk theater art has already emerged in the late 19th century and early 20th century.
Some say, lenong merely the result teaterisasi and development of Gambang Kromong music. Gambang Kromong is a kind of gamelan orchestra that combines Chinese musical instruments, such as Sukong, Tehyan, and kongahyan.
Other versions argues, derived from the development puppet lenong Abdul Muluk. Art was already known in Sumatra since 1886 influenced by Parsi comedy and puppet of China. Puppet Jakarta Abdul Muluk entrance around the 1910s. Lenong own name appeared in the 1920s. At that time, the accompanying music is kromong xylophone.
