Positive Power is the teaching and broadcast ministry of Dr. Lance Watson, the Senior Pastor and Chief Dreamer of the Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Lance Watson is committed to teaching the truth of God’s Word in a way that is culturally relevant, scripturally accurate and easy to understand. His goal is to communicate the positive power of Jesus Christ to this generation, and to touch the world with God’s unending love.

About Dr. Lance D. Watson
The Saint Paul’s Baptist Church was founded in 1909 with only 16 members. Dr. Lance Watson is the sixth pastor to serve this congregation in its 107 year history. For the past 30 years, Dr. Lance Watson has worked diligently to find needs and meet them, find hurts and heal them, find problems and solve them in Richmond, Virginia and beyond.

A graduate of four distinguished universities, Dr. Watson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Education from Wayne State University. He also holds the Master of Divinity degree from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and the Master of Arts in Christian Education from the Presbyterian School of Christian Education at Union Theological Seminary in Virginia. He completed his Doctorate in Ministry at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio.

Called to the leadership of Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in 1985, God has used him to grow that congregation from 300 to more than 10,000 members, expanding from one location to three campuses serving Henrico, Richmond and Petersburg, Virginia. He has built a network of hundreds of functional small groups, a ministry staff of more than 200 people, and continues to support ministry and mission causes around the globe.

Under his leadership, the church has acquired more than 300 acres of land with plans to construct what has affectionately been called, “The City of Possibility,” a master planned community that will feature multiple residential neighborhoods, a progressive seniors community, commercial, retail and office spaces, a park, an elementary school and a community life facility.

Saint Paul’s has already completed Phase 1 of this development with the construction of six buildings totaling 125,000+ square feet to house its expanded ministry, mission and media operations. Dr. Watson has hosted the weekly television broadcast, Positive Power on regional and national television stations for more than 25 years. This year, he will launch Growing Pastors-Growing Churches (GPGC), a pastor’s network designed to provide modeling, motivation, and mentoring that leads to multiplication of kingdom causes.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he is married to Rosemary Wilder, a noted and world traveled singer and together they parent three children, and have five grandchildren. A gifted communicator, ideaprenuer, cultural architect, life coach, teacher and author; he has written four books: Being Healthy From Now On, Maximize Your Edge, Meet Me in the Morning and That Was Then, This is NOW.
