Hamza Yusuf Hanson was born in 1960 in Walla Walla of Washington, United States. In 1977 Hamza Yusuf became muslim. After taking his shahada he started travelling all over the Islamic world to study Islam. He has studied in the United Arab Emirates for ten years and other countries such as North Africa, West Africa, Saudi Arabia. The shaykh is currently an advisor to Stanford University's Program in Islamic Studies. Hamza Yusuf has also been ranked in the The 500 Most Influential Muslims magazine displaying his presence nationally and internationally.
