as already mentioned in other comments. the android sdk is better and free! bad effort for the cost.

Great app to learn

Uninstall ... Poor Android book, expected more from it. Don't waste your time buying this book, plus its expensive for nothing. You can get better Android UI examples for free online. Just Google search Android UI and you'll get all the examples you need.

It's sad that Google Play doesn't have a book store in India. I own the hard-copy of the book and this companion app from the play store. ----- First of all, if you were looking for a book that'll help you jump in and code your first android app, maybe this is not the right place. And that's not because this book is incapable of doing the same but it doesn't intend to! First part of this book sensitizes readers about how important it is to step back and think about the app at first. This book even takes readers on a safari through the design jungle introducing every important design principles and practices before letting them get their hands wet at later chapters. More than being a “how to” book on creating android applications, this book gives you immense detail about the “concepts” behind in all respects. It’s not just about ‘using’ Android but about ‘understanding’ what android framework is all about and then making the best use of it. Being a designer myself, working mostly for Android Devices, I believe this book will be one of the best resources I can have. Thanks.

Two stars for not putting the effort into actually creating beautiful ui examples with the demo app. It's only demo code of how to use various componets which is very similar to sdk examples that comes with android eclipse plugins.
