Ease of use for beginners

This app worked like a DREAM before the update, now it won't let me add new people or info. I'm very sad... can it please be fixed for my Samsung (Android) device? I must say, It works well on my iPad, but I much prefer using my Samsung as it seems to have a better layout design and quicker response times. Thanks a Bunch!

I've used Ancestry for years. Even before it became so popular. I found my very first ancestor on this site and I became obsessed, to the point I would dream of one of deceased loved ones and get up in the middle of the night to get on the computer to find them. I love this site. I took the DNA test too. Its been 17 years since I started using Ancestry and there have been lots of changes but I still love them. They have given me an abundance of information about my ancestors.

What can I say.really. when you find yourself crying because your great grandmother had to sign consent for her marriage and its both beautiful and tragic and you wouldn't have known it at all without a little green leaf that appeared. Totally amazing. Ancestry grows with your knowledge and long lost bibles uncovering a long forgotten lady name can bring you to across oceans and more green leaves. This is like Alice's rabbit hole but its your life and there's magic in these unknown. We all have stories to find we never knew how to tell. The beauty is in the rewrites.

I am updating my previous review to show that I had already signed up for a free trial with Ancestry prior to downloading the App. I deleted the tree I'd started on Ancestry and restarted it on the Ancestry app. I assumed that my tree and my free trail which my debit card is attached to...would be visible on both the app and the ancestry site. I was a bit startled when from the app I was prompted to again sign up for a free trial. How do I associate the tree I have on the app with the ancestry site, as well as with the free trial?

It just stopped working. I can't see new hints or make updates in the app. Multiple people and photos have been added online. The number of people and new hints are reflected, but I can't see them or the photos. Also, can't see my DNA results. I've uninstalled and reinstalled like three times. Still nothing.

I love this app so much! It is extremely helpful with my genealogy. My only issue is sometimes when I try to delete a person or even edit info, it'll show it changed on the website but on my app, the info doesn't change. It's a pretty annoying little bug. Hopefully it gets fixed.

New problem: unable ti save anything! Says to check my internet. My internet is fine. I have re-booted my android several times to no avail. Suggestions box : I would like to add websites that tell about a relative. Similar to what you can do with "Pinterest"!

My original comments remain below. Many sites have leapfrogged the Ancestry app. Its in much need of a major improvement in many areas such as the analysis of DNA relatives. The hints haven't changed in their effort to narrow down hints or searches. There now needs to be an ability to remove an entire line of people rather than individuals. People lost due to the remival of an individual in the tree need to be highlighted and there needs to be far more work done on the DNA section A DNA tree needs to be allowed to help with linking to previously unknown pepple. Old comment: The pc version could copy the hints options. Please allow for a tree search to delete people without relatives (this happens when you delete someone and their ancestors stay but become invisible). An answer would be appropriate.

I bought the DNA test but we can't even use it because this app is so bad. As soon as you log into your account it shows some random family tree and it's impossible to do anything else. There's no menu nothing, if you press back it just exit the app. All it says that the top is click the leaf for more info, so you click the leaf and it shows some person I have never heard of.

If i could give this app 0, i would. I uninstall and reinstall and it still doesnt load right. You cant switch user. Theres no navigation buttons. Terrible.

I love this site, and this app. My only complaint is that the app is missing the "edit relationships" option, so I have to keep alternating between it and the site. Is there any chance you could implement that?

Found out I may be related to Ashley Judd... (I know, that and a dollar will buy a Sunday paper.) I am related to William Bradford and William Brewster, though... App is worth it, to have this connection with my past is great.

No information available past paternal grandparents on both sides. There was nothing provided other than what I already know. Every inquiry sent me to their "buy a DNA testing kit." How much money do I have to spend to get access to information? What a disappointment.

Just got it on my Samsung phone. Really like it. The only thing I see that is missing, is there is no way to see messages. Having just done my DNA, I am always checking for messages, and you don't seem to be able to see them on the phone. I can on the iPad.

Recurring ????s .. I have to uninstall and reinstall. Problem with what my relationship is been the ancestor and myself bug ongoing. Problem with my relationship to myself. Ancestry claims my uncle is my 3rd cousin

I'm pretty stoked to start building my family tree. Seems a little expensive, but haven't really looked into what all is available.

Recommendation: Please add an icon badge for notifications. I would like to be alerted when I have a message from another user waiting for me, like on facebook. I love reviewing documents in the go!

I can rarely get through the process of adding one fact to one person before the screen freezes or closes down or the fact gets added three times instead of once. I don't know if I should blame the app developers though, since the website has been getting worse every day for over a year. There are wonderful records being added all the time, but it's such a constant struggle to get to them or attach them or even remove them when they are wrong, that I think I might take up headbutting brick walls instead, it might be less painful.

Impossible to use on Android phone... terribly frustrating... can't sign out 80% of the time... If You try to use the back button... it doesn't take you back to the previous page... it takes you all the way back to the beginning of when you sign in... often I cannot leave the page with the family tree... for such an expensive app it should work much much better...

APP is NOT WORKING on Samsung Android phone now. It worked a few months ago. I think LATEST update may be the problem. Can YOU RESTORE or FIX ASAP!!

This app is good but I frequently have to uninstall and then reinstall or it crashes my phone - which is a new and expensive model so I don't think it's the phone. Other apps work perfectly fine on it.

The history of our world has already been written down. In my personal experience, this site is very user friendly which made searching for family history that much easier, all you really need to start with is family names and dates of birth and or death. I highly recommend this site for anyone looking for answers.

Worker great until 3 weeks ago and now I click on dna and all I get is the main page and Can't get past it. It's useless to me now

I love this app, however I logged into my friends account on my phone, and now it will not allow me to revert back to my own. I log out, but as soon as I reach the new login screen it automatically inputs my friends name, and logs back into his account. Aside from that, five stars.

It will kick me out of the app. I would give five stars, but because of this, I can not work on my tree like I used to.

I've been doing my tree for a while now but Ancestry online has made it so much easier. I'm loving the app as I've been mainly using my laptop. Being able to now take my addiction to researching my multitude of ancestors everywhere is fantastic!

I downloaded this on my tablet and 10 days later it no longer displays my dna matches or dna circles - error messages - totally useless to me now.

I love that while I'm at work on break I can easily access my ancestry trees and continue you lean more. So much better then wasting time on social media.

The app used to work pretty good considering. But now when I make changes it's not updating in the app. I can only see the changes when I'm on a PC. It doesn't seem to be syncing well.

I have found relatives from both sides of my family and some and most are 2nd cousins. I've been in touch with one lady and it was amazing. I have never enjoyed myself like this before.

Quite easy to use! I am sitting in my car waiting for someone doing research! Can't get any better than that!

Obviously not as full featured or easy to use as when you're on a full sized desk or laptop, but for the small size of the interface (Samsung S4) this app does a great job. Very stable. Have never lost data, and easily syncs with my online records.

Nothing happens. It just says choose a tree. I can't click on anything. If i restart it I get the same thing.

Absolutely love this app. Knew hardly anything about my family on my father's side. Now I have so much info that I would never have had without this app. Excited

App was great prior to upgrade which now doesn't allow you to add people (via Android Samsung) while mobile and away from home computer.

Love the app... well used to love the app. Since the last update I can't save any information I find. Very frustrating.

Since upgrade when I try to filter hints by photos only the app closes down. Not very useful. Have had this happen 4 times now.

Photo uploading is buggy. Sometimes you hit save a few times without acknowledgement and then find it has added several copies of the image

Latest update. Tried adding spouse five times and it still wont add anything to tree. I think you broke it......
