Ambling BookPlayer Pro

That was a fantastic app. Unfortunately since Android version 7 came out, no more access to Menu button, no matter what I tried. I would buy the app again if only it would be updated...

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and no available MENU button to touch, so this app was unusable until I scrolled through the ratings congress and read to longhold back button. This should just be stated within the app where it says "Library is empty. Press MENU button to add books." 4 stars otherwise; 5 stars if we could change play speed.

I used to like Ambling for my audiobooks, but it lacks an widgets, so trying to pause or go back 15-30s the playing means you have to wait until the app fully loads. Also can't pause from the pull down notifications menu. These are things that Audible and the like can do and I'd like to see added.

Love this app, however one complaint I will make is that you can never end your session. I always have to go to task manager and force stop. Another criticism is that once you choose not to post to Facebook there's no way to change that option if you'd like to post/ share your book. If those two things were fixed it would be perfect. Love all the free classics.

I've been using this app for more than a year now, and although I've tried others as well, i ALWAYS return to this one. Yes, this is a very specialized player, with a ton of advanced functions, and so you need to spend a few minutes understanding what this app can do for you. However, it quickly pays off, and like I said, in my personal opinion there is no better player around.

This is a great app. I love to listen to books while exercising, working in the yard, or traveling. I've caught up on some classics that I had never read. Easy to use and performs as expected.

Does not function properly on Android 6.0 marshmallow. Write permission changes in marshmallow require apps to be upgraded for compatibility. PLEASE FIX MY FAVORITE APP!

It is great that it keeps track of many books. Other apps loose track and are very frustrating if I need to switch.

This app has all the bells and whistles I wanted, with one glaring exception: it doesn't come with lock-screen/notification area controls. Audible has many short-comings, but it comes with lock-screen controls that let you pause and resume your book from the lock screen and notification bar, without having to unlock your phone and then bring the app forward first. At this app's price-point, it should have every user convenience.

Paid for this app but for some reason wont work on my phone. Just hear fuzzy talking but other things a clear as day so I know its not the phone:(

Needs improvements with Bluetooth headphones as KT tends to freeze and kick you out every few minutes or so.

I agree with emma. I love this app, but I'm here looking for an app with that can increase the narrator speed for my non-Audible audiobooks.

No menu button on phones means the program is bricked. Been over a year with no solution...

... and without it you can't load books into the library or pretty much anything else either. Used it for years on my older phone that had a built-in menu button and loved it. I'll have to find something else now.

If you have mp3 audio books this is the app you need. Load file sets, include images for the cover and build your library. Playback options highly customizable. Don't loose your spot again!

Excellent app functionally, but poorly formatted for LG G4. No menu button available to let you switch to library or close the app. EDIT customer team provided a work around to access the menu.

I have had this all on every device for years and used it to play my mp3 book collection from audio book bay it works flawlessly and has a really good sleep and bookmark function.

Even after all these years this is still the only one I use.

I have used this app since I bought my brand new SGS1. And even now on my Z2 it is brilliant, a multitude of features than mean I never miss an important plot point or funny moment. For future development I would love to see this replacing my podcast player with the ability to download from iTunes or RSS feeds as there just isn't a good podcast app out there.

I loved this app, but it hasn't been upated since 2011 and hasn't kept up with Android OS updates. Doesn't respond to pause on car system or headset. Galaxy S5.

Just wondering if they are going to continue supporting this app. The menu structure desperately needs updating. Great app otherwise.

Update. After trying the new Listen Player here on Play I will not come back to Ambling Pro.....Listen player has the cleanest interface I have ever seen and many more options then Ambing...

I use it ALL the time. I bought the Pro years ago. I have been 100% happy with it. Thanks for this perfect audio player an library. I'm bed bound ALOT an this let's me travel in my bed..lol. God Bless!

I'm very surprised this still does not have lock-screen controls.

I have been happy with this player overall. It has the sleep timer which I need. Unfortunately if you want to add a book from SD card it is extremely not user friendly. Guys work on your UI the buttons on top are not intuitive. The other thing is playback pauses when in the background and I have to constantly switch back to ambling application and play again. As I said AVERAGE. I have seen better.

The software download stalls after 3 seconds & cancels. Every other app on mySE Xperia X10i d'loads fine. Annoyed, because i loved the free version.

I have been using Amblingbook Pro for some time now on my tablet and absolutely love it. I recently downloaded the pro app to my phone but for some reason it just won't work. I am unable to load my audio files to the player as there is not menu button, no option to add from sd card. It's unfortunate, cause this is a great app, but apparently not for the phones

Love it! Nothing even comes close. Works great on Droid X. Spent hours trying out others. Don't bother! $8.99 is a steal for this user-friendly app.

I avidly listen to audio books and this app allows me to listen to saved books on my SD micro card. I love it's full audio book features like bookmarks and remembering where I am in my story after closing the app. Also, it stays in my pull down notification list even after I close the app. Overdrive doesn't do that.

I use it to listen to podcasts, The Economist, etc. while commuting and doing chores. The large number of options are intimidating at first, but they provide the flexibility to use the app in exactly the way I want. For example, I press the "back" button in my car to rewind 15 seconds, and the "forward" button to skip ahead 1 minute. Note: if your phone doesn't have a menu button, try holding down the home button to display the menu.

I no longer get the preferences option in Android 4.4.4 on my Samsung Galaxy S5. Also when I leave the player there is no exit option. I have to restart the phone to get the player to fully exit. I like this player, please update the App.

bought the pro version for the sleep timer and still don't have the option?! Samsung 5 and don't see a difference between the free version and this one. Can someone help please?!

In all of the time that I've owned this reader..... over 2 years it still has the same and very annoyingly cumbersome loading system. Each book file has to be loaded manually. It won't read and load the files into the library automatically, which is pretty antiquated. Apart from that it would be a good reader.

This is a great app! I always recommend it to fellow travelers, because it is so smart... I've listened to maybe 100-150 free books and maybe 30-50 paid using this app.. Love it!
