ArtRage: Draw, Paint, Create for Android
Great drawing/painting app, don't get much better on Android! Even if you don't consider yourself much of an artist (and especially so if you have a tablet) you can have an awful lot of fun with this. There are so many tools for creating doodles with, the interface for accessing them is transparently clear and you can easily fiddle about with their properties so you can paint exactly how YOU want to paint. Top bunny version of a brilliant desktop package.
Hi, love this app, and I wanted to support the makers (as well as have access to additional features) so I paid the £4.50 for the full version. However I can see absolutely no difference what so ever. I am running it on a Lenovo Android yoga book so I don't know if there are any software glitches.... I love the app, I just can't see any differences. =/
Believe it or not this app changed my life since I'm a quadriplegic and I operate my note 7 using the stylus with my mouth. This app has got out the best of my drawing abilities and I mean I can draw some pretty amazing things, wish you could see. It does lack some of the other tools from other free apps have and you can't move pinned references, annoying! Please fix. I'm hoping to see new features and tools. other than that this app is a major go! Because this is as close it gets to the real deal.
I'd been using this on my galaxy note 5 with outrageously accurate, and beautiful results up until a few weeks ago. Now every time I'm painting or drawing the color will change. At first it would only drag in white outside the virtual canvas but now it changes to whatever color it comes near. It's become worse and now it does it every single time causing me to turn to another app for my projects. If this is something I'm doing wrong or if it's just a glitch, I would much appreciate info on a remedy.
I have this on my phone (Note 5). The app works just like the art software on my computer. Pressure sensitive, lots of brush options, and great save options so you can export the work you are using. The interface is well done. Work great on a small screen or a large tablet. If you are looking for art software for on the go to capture all your great ideas, look no further. I have purchased every other art app on the store, none even come close to this one. I will be buying this for my PC next. Thank you devs
EDIT: Changing my rating from 4 to 5 stars now that the script feature has been added. There's one single feature that isn't in the Android version of Artrage, that's the script / recording feature. it is however in the IOS version, so I'm guessing it's on its way as long as there's nothing on the Android OS hindering it. Other then that this is a great app, do keep in mind that it is slightly taxing because of how detailed the color blending and brush strokes are made.
UPDATED: My copy of this program had an error that ArtRage support resolved. You do not HAVE to have an internet connection to open this program as I previously thought. So I have updated my review from 1 star to 4. ArtRage is a solid painting program that's easy to use and straightforward to paint with. I enjoy it a lot. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because some of its competitors are as easy to to use but have more brushes, pens, etc. Overall, though, you can't go wrong with ArtRage.
The app is a really great for the people that can use the tools efficiently. I however use the sumo paint application better, because I can use simpler tool in more complex ways. BTW: Art rage crashes a lot on my tablet and some of the brushes lag behind.
Crashes upon opening the gallery, every time. Thus no way to load files. Basically makes the app useless.
Well it's like this, and I don't give the highest rating, but you guys have thrown a touch down. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I have MS. It makes doing art of any kind nearly impossible between hands that randomly twitch and pain that never stops. But worse than the pain is the deppression caused by being unable to express myself for so long. I opened your app and instantly felt the memory of graphite and charcoal coated fingers pop up so strongly I cried. Thank you. And thank you to the other disabled fellow who reviewed because his review was what made me stop and consider it.
Yes, the oil paints feel very realistic. However the Android version lacks the ability to adjust the aspect and rotation of the brushes. That means you are limited to a single brush shape. I love this app on my Mac, but the Android version is lacking a very key feature for any serious painter.
I've made some interesting abstracts with this. I'd love to see a spray bottle added in the tools section for spraying paint to add drips.
The lack of a selection tool and the inability to select, mask, and transform layers makes this kind of useless for what I wanted it for. It is great for sketching on the go and doing quick paintings however. Fun for portable practice, totally worth $5.
First off, it is one of the better apps out there. The reasons I am giving it only 3 stars. * no preset color palette where you can select from a range of colors * pen lag. The faster I draw the more significant the lag. * uploading of work to pen.up is continuously failing. Saving to desired folder on tablet fails.
Thanks for the advise. After fiddling around a bit, I have finally figured out how to fix the problem. I really like this app and I even created a cartoon character of me for my profile pic using your app. Thanks again! 5 stars!
Desperately needs a zoom lock. Every time I move my hand it zooms, even with palm detection. Add that and I'll upgrade you to 5 stars.
Very responsive and rich. Would love to see a text feature, though (with many font styles). Thought it had one (most other drawing apps do). That would make me review 5 stars for sure!
I was away from wifi working on a mission critical project and apparently ArtRage tests periodically and locks you out if you can not connect. Bottom line you can not count on ArtRage to produce art when you need it. If you want to draw just get Infinity Painter. It has the better pencil and drawing tool set. It can also do two finger canvas rotate.
Has issues running from external storage, but one of the best functioning sketch/paint apps out there.
After a while with experimenting with AR and other painting apps, I've come to an unfortunate conclusion that there are next to no apps that can come close in terms of easy-to-understand UI and paint brush possibilities. I say unfortunate because there's still a lot of basic functions this app needs, such as the layer protect alpha, the line & shape tool, canvas zoom lock function, I could go on. For now though, I would just appreciate this as an easy to understand painting app for people of all ages.
Using this app for around a 1year now, it is just brilliant. I need to get the desktop version that's a must. I'm a professional abstract artist working in acrylics and mixed media, this app keeps me busy when I'm away from the studio if something catches eye I can use the app for reference by painting what inspires me. Just brilliant.
Can't find sync setting like in tutorial and works without pairing but lags slot please help me fix
This app is my favorite digital tool for creating realistic painting effects .The oil brushes are far more realistic then any other art app.And the pallet knife is awesome .It would be cool if the stencils were availible on the app version like how the one I have on my MacBook is but in any case this is my favorite app hands down
What should I do to make it run smoothly?
it's VERY slow with loading times and such. With every stroke, there's a delay or resistance that sets back the efficient of everything
I wish you could move the layers panel and drag it to another location on the canvas instead of it being stuck in one fixed spot that can cover the page your working on...
I just purchased this app how do use my s pen on my note 5 to draw sorry if this is a dumb question
Been mucking around with this popular app for several weeks now and possibly more confused than ever especially with regards to colour mixing.
I love this app so much. It's my favorite app in the world. Great for destressing!
Color picker on long press is horrible. It keeps switching on and unintentionally changes color when drawing dots or small, slow circles with s pen. That's very annoying and unacceptable behaviour! Also undo does not always work leaving unwanted marks. UPDATE: I spent more time recently in artrage and I like it more then when I originally bought it. The brush strokes seems to be more fluid and less laggy what makes it more engaging to use. Long press for color picker however could be less sensitive!
I've tried several art apps and ArtRage is most definitely the best and my favorite. It's incredibly easy to use and it's opened up a whole new world of creativity that I never knew I had in me. There are also plenty of easy to understand tutorials online to show you how to get the most out of it.
This great app is almost disabled by an annoying problem. There's a time lag of about half a second when you draw. So the line you draw trails your stylus or finger by about an inch then catches up later. It makes the app almost useless. I think this problem is caused by constantly autosaving. If that's the problem then give us an option to save manually. We can do it. We're adults.
It had layers and you could export/save the file as as PSD. Other than that, it's great. Keeping my fingers crossed on those features.
How to pick colour without keep changing brush? Example: hold volume button and tap the color
I love this app so much! I'm about to purchase the Lite version for a touchscreen PC, & possibly the full version later if needed. Between ArtRage & GIMP I can do most of my illustration work & exploration. Love ArtRage's tools & ability to adjust these, choose subtle through to intense colours & export to jpeg files for print & Web design. It's brilliant, a mini studio for tablet & phone! Many thanks to the developers!
My online artwork is benefiting from the purchase of this app. One thing that could REALLY make this indispensable for me would be a mirror function. Then it would be 5 stars for sure.
One of the best but missing some settings I would find important. I'd like to see checkboxes in settings for pressure and tilt respectively, since I do not always want tilt on. I used to never even know S Pen supported tilt though so thats amazing!
How do I remove the icons while I paint? It's very annoying that the screen isn't blank like other painting apps where you have the option of removing the icons.

Something that would be crazy awesome is adding a neon aspect the color, like the metallic. That'd be awesome. Love it anyway. Definitely worth it. 7 bucks for what in real life is impossible: a freaking undo button!! And no clean-up, and no paint bleeding through the paper! It's mobile! IMO, its worth like 20 bucks. Such a steal at 7!
