Amazon Fire TV Remote App

I liked using this app especially when i cant find the remote that came the fire stick. I love the fact you can use the keyboard to type as a alternative to the mic. However it constantly disconnects from the fire stick. It uses WIFI the signal to connect to the stick so sometimes you have to close app out or refresh the signal. Might better served to use Bluetooth signal instead if it had that option as well. In the end the app is ok but be prepared for disconnecting issues

Bare with me here. Okay, so I have used the app whilst connected to my network and overall the performance is exceptional. However, I had began to experience poor network connection and wanted to reset my network so I clicked "Forget Network" which then kicked me off the app. I know obviously the app functions by finding the fire stick through a network connection but wouldn't that render it useless if you have lost your remote and have not connected to a network? Maybe a smarter functionality should of been embedded with the app.

I started using this app about a year ago when my remote stopped working, and it is great when it works...very easy to use, and so convenient. However, it frequently stops connecting. I go through all of the troubleshooting multiple times a week and often it takes a very long time to reconnect even though my WiFi is fine. I wish the developers would make it more stable.

Both remotes broke and I found this by chance. Thought I'd have to spend around £30 for replacements, but this app is brilliant and we (the whole family) will be using this going forward. Very intuitive and the voice search works perfectly. Multiple people can control at once and I can't actually believe it's free. There aren't any downsides that I can think of and it's actually more convenient than the remote. Hopefully no crud updates ruin it.

I love how it's much easier to use than the regular remote. You can type with the keyboard and not take a hundred hours putting in the title of the movie or show you want. And I also lie how its battery doesn't need to be relapced. A dislike is I have to connect with the internet and sometimes my internet doesn't so right

One of the last updates allowed the app to automatically connect to the device. The problem is when you have more than one fire devices in your household. Most of the time it's automatically connecting to the device in the other room. This auto connect would be fine if you had one device but please let me choose the device I would without the apps connecting to the wrong one.

Update. I originally gave 5 stars but I'm changing it to 2 bc every time the screen on my phone goes off, the video playing also goes off. It pauses itself when the phone goes to sleep. No one can keep their phone on for 2 hours while they watch a movie. Fix this and I'll go back to 5 stars. Thank you

No advantages over the voice remote. Voice works poorly anyhow on fire tv. No point in this app except to drain your phone battery. The directional pad is bad, and there is no mouse or touch support. Keyboard input is rather terrible, and you still have to deal with amazon's really bad keyboard overlay. It is far better to just use a usb or bluetooth keyboard with touchpad or air mouse.

Thumbs up, it is a great app and perfect for households like my own where remote controllers disappears into thin air. however, sometimes it can't find my firestick to be able to.connect so I end up having to reset everything and keep trying until it shows up. But otherwise, would Deffo recommend it.

Morons design things. Wanted to reset connection on stick in hotel room... Clicked forget network. Then was going to reconnect.... Well BYE BYE! Stick is now not connected to any internet my phone is and now is totally unrecognized because they arent on same networks. Sooooo i have no way of going to network settings without original remote. Great job you dumb mf'ers

The fire stick has a very simple remote and as this gives you a key board and more I found it brilliant. Lost remote is not a problem anymore, no more frantic digging through the kids toy boxes. Now when it turns up it will probably be put safe and left there. few small hiccups but on the whole aGreat app

Terribly unreliable. It's got a little better with recent update but still appalling. Disconnects all the time, handles it badly, ui is erratic, can take minutes to hit pause. Considering it has one simple job that a new grad could code up in an hour maybe amazon could bother to sort it out?

Nice so far. As long as the fire stick is connected to the same WiFi as your phone or tablet the app automatically recognizes the fire stick. I was about to buy a Bluetooth keyboard until I found this bad boy. Been using it for a week now and it really is a great alternative. Instead of purchasing a Bluetooth keyboard download this app. It uses your phone's own keyboard for when entering add ons or simply looking for a specific movie that you want to watch. I hope the developers don't mess with it and screw it up.

This app USED to work well. But lately it either can't seem to find my fire tv stick or just can't connect to it. This especially seems to be a problem when the screensaver is playing. Fix whatever the problem is (whether it be the app or the fire tv firmware) and I'll give it 5 stars

my remote broke, it didnt even last a year. i downloaded the remote app to my phone . it was working fine till today. it cant find my firestick i wish i could get my money back i really disappointed. I am usually a hugh fan of anything amazon

It is nice and Easy!!! The only sucky part is when you are out of town and forgot your remote..... You think, Hey! I can use my phone as a remote but you can't because because they have to be linked to the same network in order for it to work... But how the in world am I supposed to be able to connect the stick to the internet and use my phone at the same time if I dont have the remote to begin with....

Way too buggy Constantly disconnects, often times won't find my firestick or when it does won't connect. I often have to physically unplug the firestick from its power source them log out of the app log back in to get it to finally work. Claims of bug fixes usually result in these issues happening more often, not less.

It constantly disconnects itself a and half the time doesn't recognize my devices. It's quite exasperating when replacing remotes takes months. So either FIX this damn app or make the remotes better quality and/or AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE. So irritated.

Its an amazing app for me because i'm disabled and cant phisacally press the button on my remote so im so happy i found this app. Only downside is i recently lost my remote and my mum changed the wifi password and the app wouldnt function untill i borrowed my friends remote to change the password manuly so pros and cons

Worked great until it randomly stopped connecting. The firesticks both show up, are on the same network, and I'm not connected to anything else or screen mirroring. Fix whatever you did in the update and I'll put five stars back. On V10

The directional touch pad only registers my input as enter no matter where I press. I spend most of my time I'm my Plex app so voice commands don't help. Other than the full keyboard, this app is useless to me.

It's a little buggy. It works most of the time but we have to uninstall and reinstall sometimes to get it to work. Also, I think the problem is our firestick overheats. Hey, still better than paying for cable!

Its handy for when you lose the regular remote. But i recommend you try very hard to not lose it because this app needs work. The thing for alexa always pops up when i just want to check my notifications. And in certain apps you cant really scroll very well, it jumps pages.

I downloaded this because I lost my remote. Epic fail. This doesn't stay connected to the tv. Constantly turns off on it's own. The touchpad for what ever reason throws you back to home. I have stopped using my firestick because of this. I used my firestick all day long, but not anymore. Time to order a new remote. I miss my fire.

Sometimes I have to click more than once to make things work. There has been times where the remote did not want to connect to my fire stick. I will have to delete the app and reinstall.

Great when it's working. But lately disconnects and won't reconnect. It sucks, but I may have to pay $29.95 to replace the actual remote that got lost. That hurts since a while new fire stick with remote only costs $10 more!! Please fix this app!!!

When this app is working it's amazing but when it's not, which is about 50% of the time, it just makes you CRAZY. It won't connect like it should or stay connected. It's pointless to even try if it's one of "those" days. So frustrating! It's a LOVE/HATE relationship with this app, and right now, I'm hating this app SO HARD. (Heat of a thousand suns hatred! - ----so fed up.)

Why can't my remote show me what's on the TV? You're making this way too complicated. Plus, being able to control this from another room would be a huge plus. You could have put VNC on the Fire Stick and VNC viewer for the remote and done better.

Arrow BUTTONS. What is so hard to understand about that? Why do I need to swipe every time I need to move? Do you unfathomable MORONS understand how inefficient that is? Is this piece of crap just an excuse to sell more replacement remotes that are just as crappy as the last one? You people are scam artists.

Well it works for the most part. But it constantly needs to reconnect mid swipe. Then will randomly stop working for a day or two. Reinstalling multiple times does nothing til the app is good and ready to work again. So yeah enjoy. It's just like a teenager.

Only used it a few times so far, but it's so handy that I use the fire stick more often now. Quick, easy, and I actually think it's better than the stick remote. Plus I never have to find the remote. I don't think I've even utilized out too full potential yet.

Big problem. Videos will pause unless you keep the remote app open and your phone screen on. If you exit out of the app or let your screen turn off the movie will stop playing. That's a huge issue and it didn't used to happen. Fix it ASAP

Better than the original remote. Yes it will disconnect but it really isn't that much of a hassle to hook it right back up. Way better then stressing over the lost remote In my opinion. Love that it has the keyboard to type in what your searching for instead of having to click each letter. Only downfall for me is if you accidently click the big grey area it will restart my movie or show so I wish it would ask if you meant to restart your movie or show instead of just jumping you there on accident. Anyway great app. Def get it if you have a firestick

Broke my remote. This is way better. The last update has vastly improved this app, with the addition of favourite apps, even third party apps can be added. They are now just one click away. No more scrolling. Keep up the good work.

This app is very useful especially since I can use my devices keyboard to enter information into various apps. The only place or does NOT work is on the YouTube app for some reason, but that is not enough to drop the Stars. Every day app!

I don't like this new GUI. I hate the featured content section forced upon us. Plus app never stays connected. Every time I open it I'm forced to wait while it reconnects. Previous version was much better.

My fiance thought the stick was broken but it turned out to be the remote. I've had this app but never really used until I was forced to. Love that the apps are visible for quick access. Would give more stars if there was a widget and TV control.

I absolutely love the app. Makes searching better with the keyboard and more fluid as far as a remote. The only thing I hate is that when you lock your phone to conserve battery or you exit the app it causes a 5-10 second audio mute with whatever you're watching. Besides that I love it!!!!

Constantly disconnects and wont refresh. Have to delete app and add back just for it to work for a couple of hours and then it disconnects. Hasn't worked for days. Nothing connects it back and the original remote it trash, too.

The Amazon Firestick Remote kept malfunctioning and became unresponsive. Downloaded this app and it works like a charm! It's like the remote, and it's actually impressive how swift it is. Installation is only 3 steps... download app, connect to device, enter pin and voila! Thanks, Amazon!
