This app is awesome. I liked it a lot but a major feature I would like to suggest which need to be added in the . While reading the book we can decrease the phone or tablet brightness but there is no feature to decrees kindle book night. It is difficult to read the book at night. If possible try to add a feature to set brightness or provide nightmode feature in the new update. once again thank you Amazon and Google foe this wonderful app.

Welcome to Amazon Kindle here is a free $5 credit for you towards the purchase of your next book. I didn't even ask for this. What they don't tell you is that every time you try to buy a book that is less than $5 you cannot complete your purchase or buy any books that you want. Error messages pop up every single time and I can't spend money. You blew it Amazon... Lost a cu$tomer for Kindle here. There should be an option to purchase a book without having to use a credit.

Update still only addressed a small portion of complaints. Homepage is still filled with ads, aka recommendations/suggestions. If I wanted to see those, I would have gone to the Store. Additionally scrolling in Store is still screwed up since 2-3 updates ago. I am not able to scroll or it is laggy when scrolling. I have to wait 10-15 seconds longer than before for a Store page to load before I can start scrolling. Rather than bringing the Kindle Store to the rest of the app, why don't you focus on fixing the Store first.

What a mess. Since the latest Android update to my Samsung Galaxy, my Kindle for Samsung refuses to work, so I have been forced to install this new version and I don't like it at all. The carousel is much smaller and half the homepage is offering me books which Amazon thinks I might like. A perfect demonstration of the old adage: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I would rate this higher, but there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off one click purchases when this app is connected to your Amazon account. It would be nice if I could make sure my child doesn't end up buying a book every time he sees a cover he likes.

Wow, this new update is concerning. After reading a plethora of reviews regarding the latest update (10/12/17), I agree with them and am SO very glad I read them b4 updating. Losing the original functioning of the app means I won't update it, so I'm really hoping Amazon corrects this unwelcome change.

Bring back big carousel of my books. I hate the new home page that's mostly trying to sell me things. I want a bookshelf, not a retail experience. Using the native Samsung app until this one is worth using again, if it ever is.

One star for an app made by a company that takes the work done by Google, perverts it, and then bans Google products at the expense of the consumer. Also, they were pretty quick to remove full device encryption.

I hate the new update. The home page is awful. Kindle unlimited is poorly integrated, why can I not sort to see which items I still have checked out. I am most frustrated by the fact I can not use a password or PIN to stop my kids from making accidental or unauthorized purchases, the Amazon app store has this feature. Or make a kids Kindle app separate from the free time app. Our family may have to consider switching platforms.

Notifies of me promotions as though I get it...and I don't qualify. Notifies me regularly, when I have never used the app. Limited library available. Poor selection unless you really like self published garbage.

I REALLY hate this last update! So many settings have been changed and I cant even get the screen centered anymore! What in the world are the developers thinking this time? PLEASE change it back to the last version so I can enjoy all the books I've spent so much money on. Update: I've still got a few things I'd rather they didn't change, but I've gotten used to some stuff and figured out how to change settings.

This is my daily app for reading. Thank you very much! In some case, I got problem with text missing. I have to switch to another font to make it fully rendered.

Terrible update. To much advertising. (recommended, more like "book name") Scrolling is sporadic. Scrolling up goes up then down and vice versa. I've spent hundreds of dollars on dozens of books only to have a terrible new user interface. Amazon currently one of the highest grossing business in the world, please take addressing this issue into consideration.

The new update has introduced navigation lag. Reading a book is fine but navigating the library is not optimized. If Amazon's goal was to drive me away from using the app to using the Kindle Cloud Reader, mission accomplished.

The latest update is a considerable step backwards. Gone is the easy to use Rolodex style library and straightforward store access, replaced by a repulsive grid that looks like it hails from 1990. Downloading titles has become tedious, the app now "queues" titles instead of just downloading them (protip: when I hit download, I mean *NOW*), and when it does start to download, it is stupidly slow. Can we get a rollback?

Problem with Oreo beta 8.1 Nov 5. The headers and footer quickly disappear so you can't change the font size or other options. Plus pinching to resize doesn't work anymore since last Kindle update.

*** Please, please give us SMALLER POINT SIZE *** I seem to hope in vain for a smaller point size option to use on my phone.. Even at its current smallest it's like trying to read large-print childrens' books. When will we be have the ability to make the existing smaller? Until that time this app is useless on my phone, and that's what I use to read. The type size options are fine on a tablet or larger screen but the smallest is still way too big on phone.

The latest update is very wonky. Won't let you tap to get to the menu at the top when reading a book. So you can't navigate at all within the book - i.e. table of contents etc. Should get fixed to make this app usable again. I am running the latest build of Android 8.1, FYI. Thanks

I have no idea what you did, but the last week or so. It has locked up on galaxy s8 every single time I open it. You can only Uninstall something so many times.... I'd give it zero stars if I could. FIX IT!!!!

Reinventing something can lead to problems. Kindle was one of the best way to buy books and read books. With the new update I have to use Google to search for books because Kindle and Kindle stores are difficult to search books. Even the books that you have in your device you can not search for books using them or even authors name. Don't know why amazon wants to destroy something that was so good and why is it not taking feed back of its users look how many people are against this new version. Dont reinvent the wheel. Improve it but don't reinvent.

How is it that Amazon doesn't post THESE reviews when searching reviews?? Because NO ONE would update it!!!!! The latest update is HORRIBLE!!! I had unread books in the carousel and now that is gone. Bring back the carousel or does Kindle NOT care about the users? 1 1/2 months later and Amazon still doesn't care enough about the consumer to give us the option of a carousel. Read the reviews Amazon, most of us HATE your update!!! Or do you honestly NOT care about your customers...

Application won't run. Locks up the moment it is past Kindle image. Uninstalled and reinstalled, no change. Reboot had no effect. My books are held hostage.

Why don't my pages rotate anymore? Sometimes it's easier to read the pages when your reader is horizontal. The last 2 versions haven't allowed for the screen to auto rotate. Very disappointing.

Unusable on Pixel 2XL running Android Oreo 8.1. The reader menu never stays on screen long enough to interact with. It appears when tapping the page and then automatically disappears. How is possible that the app developer hasn't noticed this yet?

When scrolling down a page in the store the page tends to recoil back up as you scroll. Make it stop doing that!

I seriously cannot believe how terrible this is. It's so unstable! Crashes all the damn time & doesn't properly sync.

I hate the new update! Bring back the carousel as was easier to use. I wish I didn't have so many purchased books from Amazon or I would have switched to only using my Kobo.

Great for reading books, but not so much fun r acquiring them. I mostly use Kindle on the phone to explore book selection on Amazon, but after the bug overhaul a few months ago, the scrolling is completely broken in the app.

Literally every time I open on my android the app freezes almost immediately. It has been like this for a couple years on multiple devices.

The new layout is horrible! I've been happily using Kindle for about 5 years, and was perfectly happy with the carousel layout. The new layout is cluttered, difficult to navigate and intrusive - I'm sure that making ads more prominent will have the opposite of the desired effect. I allowed the app to update on my tablet, but having used it, regret doing so. I will refuse to update on my phone for as long as it remains functional, or the option to return to the carousel layout is available. It would also be useful if one could store content on SD card from within the app. I am able to move the entire app to SD on my tablet, but it will only work until the next reboot, at which point the app disappears completely. I then have to re-install, move to device storage, uninstall and re-install once more to make the app work again. Poor showing on Amazons part to force feed advertising like this. I wonder if an equivalent to the 'without offers' fee, applied to Kindle hardware, will make an appearance? The carousel layout version of Kindle would get 4 stars. This new version gets only 1.

Serious bugs in this app. I can't even scroll down on a book's shopping page. It just gets janky and goes back to the top.....why are all of Amazon's apps so bad! ?

Want to go back after browsing at a title in the store? Press the back button like every other app... Nope that closes the app. Terrible update.

I am a first time reader by phone and I love how easy and accessible this is...I don't have to look for my book or where i misplaced it or even left off at...it does all the work for me!????

Where is the carousel? I am not buying not one book till you bring it back. I HATE this new update. Fix it!!

The app is a mess. Can't sync for a start. Placement of the buttons is annoying. Have deleted app and using Kindle for Samsung instead. Much simpler and better.

I cannot stand reading with this app. If only I could have black background and Amber text. FBreader is amazing & I only use kindle when I absolutely have to.

Super buggy... Initially when you open a book, the surrounding icons for table of contents, changing fonts, etc will be there. But once you tap it away, you can't bring it back, no matter how many times you try to tap the center of the screen. App is super buggy and would not recommend.

Last update pushed me to Play Books. Kindle freezes, doesn't scroll properly, too slow.

Great app , but Amazon you had to go and tinker with it now no carousel and a annoying home screen plugging books I don't want to buy , change it back Amazon !!!! ????????????????

What u made with it. Totally unstable.. waiting for opening, scrolling, ..man I love reading don't hurt me..
