About Usage Timelines Pro

Usage Timelines is a CPU and process monitor with a graphical cpu load history as notification and a list of running apps.

A trial version is available at http://www.refined-apps.com/trials/UsageTimelinesPro-release.apk

Please note that Usage Timelines cannot show information about individual processes (other than itself) on Android N/7.0 and above. Starting with Android N/7.0, Google intentionally restricted access to /proc/<pid>/ where this information comes from. This does not affect other information, like total cpu usage, the notification timeline etc. For more details, please see https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=205565. There is no way known to us to work around this problem without Googles cooperation. Sorry.

For questions, remarks, suggestions or feedback mail us at support@refined-apps.com

---- Features ------------

✓ Extended cpu load history as notification in the notification bar (like xload/windows task manager)
✓ The colors of the notification can be configured freely
✓ Process listing
✓ Cpu and memory usage of processes (similar to "top" or windows task manager)
✓ Processes can be terminated and uninstalled
✓ Works without rooting
✓ Very low power usage
✓ Start/stop widget
✓ Supports English and German
✓ No ads

---- Power Consumption ------------

Some remarks about power consumption and performance

✓ tl;dr
Set your update intervals as high as acceptable for you. Power consumption should be fine then.
Shorter update intervals lead to higher power consumption since the values are updated more often.
You may also use it just when you experience problems and turn off the notification otherwise.

✓ Usage Timelines has been highly optimized
✓ If everything is fine, Usage Timelines should be the app in the app list that uses most cpu since all other apps should be paused by android. That's normal and expected behavior.
✓ Displaying the process list needs some additional power, especially if you are working with the app (e.g. scrolling). If the process list is not shown (e.g. while you are using another app), the process list does not use any cpu power.
✓ If the screen is off, only the values for the notification history are acquired to be able to properly update the usage history as soon as the screen is switched on again. Neither the notification history nor the process list are updated if the screen is off since you could not see the update anyway, saving cpu power and lowering power consumption.

Cannot show you whether a process is running as a service or a foreground/background app until you expand the dropdown - lacks basic color coding or other visual cues. Cannot show CPU usage for each core and cannot show core speeds like 3C Process Monitor. Cannot show the thread name if an app has multiple processes running (i.e. FooApp, FooApp:bgdownloader). Cannot show a usage timeline inside the app itself (Not wanted in notification tray!) Not a "Pro" level app.

Thanks, Dr. Achim Leubner for letting me know that 7.+ restricts the ability of this app, sorry about the previous 1 stat I wasn't aware of this issue. Is there any way however to get this app working again through an ADB command maybe? Please let me know.

I've been looking for this app for ages and finally stumbled upon it after a system restore. Anyways this is one of those apps that must be on everyone's phone. It, unlike others, gives me the ability to sort by memory/CPU usage which is very crucial. So I saw which apps were using lots of ram that I hardly used, and labeled them all in Titanium Backup so I could easily freeze/defrost em. The free version would have sufficed as I have an ad blocker installed but figured I'd chip in a few bucks and say tnx.

R70%

I bought pro so that I could change colors. Which I did & it works. But the colors in the notification tray are more muted then in the notification bar. Of you could make the tray more vibrant like the bar would be 6 stars.

I have set lock screen to show only non-sensitive notification information. Usage Timelines is not showing, where I do not consider it sensitive information. Please update and set the information to non-sensitive so it can show on the lock screen. Other than that, still one of my favourite apps that I run on all my android devices.

I used the free version previously and now the pro. The widget to toggle it on/off is an excellent addition to an already great app. Highly recommended

D70%

I already regret I bought it. There's another app on the market called OS Monitor. It's free and it gives much more useful info than this app.

U70%
by U####:

Just like xload on Unix. Can see step changes when an app is consuming a lot of cpu and then drill down to find it & kill or uninstall. Look no further when your device is running slowly. Used free version for a while, time to support the developer for this great app!
