About Fohlenhof
The Austrian emperor founded the Fohlenhof in the 19th century. It was used as a first aid station for horses that were footsore. The Fohlenhof is situated at the western end of Lasa, the world-renowned marble village.
The first Haflinger stallion was nursed here and is now known as the originator of all Haflinger. Since the eighties the Fohlenhof changed a lot. The Family Gartner started growing fruit and in 2001 part of the barn was converted into holiday apartments.
The climate of the Upper Val Venosta as well as the altitude of 860 m allows to harvest fruit of very high quality. The Family Gartner is very open-minded and innovative. This is proven by the environmentally friendly construction of the holiday apartments as well as the start-up of the first 'rustic distillery' in the Upper Val Venosta. Recently sets Rudolf Gartner with liqueurs a very different focus in the fruity range and could fully convince the World-Spirits Award so: Black Ribes was the "Spirit of the Year" with double gold, were plated cranberry, raspberry and Amarena, won silver for blueberry and apricot. We are delighted to be able to show you our holiday farm.
