CoPilot USA - GPS Navigation for Android
Easy to use, accurate maps, turn by turn voice directions, great visuals. So glad I found this app. Has kept me from getting lost more than once. Use the gps in the app itself and you won't be using your data. Highly recommend this.
I had previously owned a Garmin GPS unit, but wanted to have that functionality onboard my smartphone. I decided to try out CoPilot to do the job. For the most part, I would call the experiment a success. I have U.S. maps onboard my phone and don't need cell data, and it has a workable, but not overly thorough list of POIs for restaurants, service stations, etc. I think what makes CoPilot unique is that it allows you to import your own routes as well as POIs and have them always available offline, which was a big feature for me and something I did a lot with my Garmin GPS. Without these kinds of features, you could probably make do with Google Maps or HERE maps. Though I'm happy with its feature set, some improvements could be made: first and foremost, I'd love the ability to add notes to imported POIs. As it stands now, you can only bring in latitude, longitude, name, address, and phone. To my knowledge, you can't add any kind of your own comments or notes. Also, when following an imported route, you cannot change waypoints to stops or vice versa without doing it one at a time. This is kind of unwieldy.
I bought this app for when I have no cell coverage in remote areas. I recently was near a national park and searched for nearby restaurants and this app could not find anything close despite restaurant s that have been there for years. Complete let down!
We have found this app to mostly meet out needs. Leads us incorrectly out of our neighborhood, however (wants us to go into a dead end). No problems during travel...yet.
Lol of address is missing or house number and same in new York City. EASY FIX IT import MAPS From HERE for USA and Canada will fix all the problems. Gps accuracy out for 400 feet and speed limit. Very easy fix. All above problem .import maps from here
I have used this sat nav brand since Windows Mobile for PDAs. Until a recent phone rebuild I have been able to restore licenses with USA, Uk maps, Voice, traffic subscription. Now this is not working with last restore and all I have is the option to buy them again. Not happy. Hope I feel better after logging a support call but that's a pain. I am not inclined to think these sudden changes and hiccups are accidental.
I have had fairly good luck with Copilot until my recent trip to Mexico. I downloaded North America and assumed Mexico to be there. I was able to look at roads, etc while connected to data here onvthe States (though copilot doesn't recognize Mexican addresses) but as soon as we crossed the border, no streets or maps were shown. I had to drive blindly, trying to remember where to turn from my preview. I now see there is no maps for Mexico....even though Mexico is part of North America.
Another case of a good app destroyed by developers. New "features" and new UI for the purpose of saying "NEW!", but break the flow and ease of use. I'm out. Plus the partnership with Yelp screams cash flow over useability.
Been using about 3 years..got lost in Nevada desert outside of Las Vegas...nobody's auto or phone NAV worked for the group..this one with maps in the phone worked!! Got us home to safely!
Won't open anymore, tried rebooting phone, uninstalling, reinstalling, force closes before it opens every time. VM Samsung Galaxy S2. Worked perfect on S4. Update 8-16-17: Now Galaxy 7, Nougat, app doesn't open, says error. I used to love it, I give up on it now, tired of it never working, wasted money.
It was the best. Now it sucks.my license disappeared. Maps are inaccurate.. I paid for premium and have nothing.will uninstall asap.. Waste of money. ????????????????????
I have this app on Android and Windows Mobile but it used to be some what good but it just got worse with every update the maps are totally inaccurate they are mostly 0.1 to 0.5 mile off, used to work good in big cities but now it is confused! Recalculate so often, when you try to exit the navigation mode it quit the whole app why? Was planning to get it for ios but decided it is not worth it, the POI are outdated some of businesses are closed for year and it still show it. My recommendation do not buy. Update now the app is even worse it can not find addresses that any other map apps can like Google map. Really do not waste your money
Maps are poor. Support is beyond poor. My area shows as an exit ramp to a hwy. Email support that I could no fill out a nap update. Response was to fill out a map update. Responded and got no response. Will not be renewing traffic or anything else associated with this app. Looking for a replacement now.
My three stars are primarily due to the poor support I got recently. I have been using this app on my iPhone for a few years. It continues to get better with each release (on the iPhone). I especially like the ability to operate without cell coverage. So I bought the Android version to use on a tablet. But on my tablet there are two serious flaws: The voice guidance does not work and if the tablet loses internet access for more than about 10 minutes, the tablet will lock up. When I asked for support for these problems, the response I got was that they "could not guarantee that the app would work on my device." I was not asking them for a refund or even a guarantee; I was looking for help to trouble shoot the problem. Crickets. This is an excellent nav application, at least on my iPhone. And it is probably a great Android app as long as you don't have any need for support from the developer.
New downloading map implementation proposal - instead of wiping the map first during the map upgrade, please download the new one and only then to replace the old map with new one. This is much more user friendly. Sure, device needs to have a space for a copy - if there is no space, then to ask for confirmation. But at no condition the app should wipe all the maps and then to proceed to download. Please make it signed on a single map and repeat the sequence for each map separately.
Now I'm unable to select from phone contacts. They are listed but can't select them
All my old addresses are gone. Very slow. Wish I had the old one back. It worked fine.
Support is not responsive. Waste of money considering Google Maps is free. Did I mention that support is horrible?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S7- the OS version is Nougat. CoPilot will not let me add a second stop from my Contacts for a trip, it only lets me add one stop from Contacts. Tech support so far has no clue how to fix it so for now I cannot recommend CoPilot.
Able to get where I am going even when I am not getting a data signal on my phone or tablet... Update. 5 years later, still my "go to" navigation app. Traffic alerts are great (subscription needed) and navigation is almost flawless.
This saves us the expense of hiring a Satnav when we travel to America. It runs off GPS so we can get around without buying a data package.
Paid for it a while ago, recently bought a new device to replace my aging device. Now it says the maximum amount of registered devices is reached and stops at login. So basically if I lose or break my phone, I'm screwed out of app I paid for.. Never again... Bullcrap!
Under some circumstances it won't work like when pulling an address from your contact list or when invoking Copilot by tapping an address or voicing your destination through Google.
WASTE OF MONEY - DON'T BUY! I bought this app to use in Florida, as I didn't have access to data coming from the UK. As an example of how bad this app is: Universals Cabana Bay Resort to Bahama Breeze on the International drive in Orlando is 1.7miles. CoPilot takes you onto an interstate 4 miles the wrong way to bring you 4.9 miles back to the destination.... So not only does this app make you use 5X as much petrol/gas than a map, takes longer to get anywhere, it still needs an internet connection to find major attractions without a full address. WASTE OF MONEY Same happened coming back from NASA.... 4 miles past the hotel to come 4 miles back for no reason.... TERRIBLE
Didn't like pop-up as in my notifications from your app when it wasn't even running. Couldn't find a setting to not have ads. Sorry for the low rating but not looking for ads.
I tried virtually all the Android navigation apps and this is simply the best, most responsive, most accurate one! Terrific value, highly recommended!
Copilot is not Google. I choose to pay for this service where copilot is the product instead of using waze or Google maps where I am the product.
No lo e usado pero creo q va ser muy bueno
I love this app, I've used it for years. Any chance that it might be made compatible with Android Auto?
App has improved..good job!
Very handy when no wifi or signal around I love it!
voices download but has no sound.
Don't need a data connection to use!
You got my review? It was about the Speed limit not working.
Off line maps is a good thing.
no customer service,i have to install it again and it doesn't work
Best GPS app. I've tried them all and nothing compares.
Works for me!
I love copilot☺

I've been using Copilot since about 2012 and I really like being able to have the maps copied to your phone. This app has gone through several iterations over the years and it's had its ups and downs but the vast majority of the time it's been fantastic and has almost always gotten me where I want to go without using mobile data. I paid something like nine bucks for the paid version back around 2013 and I've gotten my money's worth a thousand times over. I can't recommend this app highly enough.
