CoPilot Truck USA & CAN - GPS for Android
What Happened??? I have been using this ap now for 4 going on 5 years and it went from being a great app to just OK! I love the POI alerts but what happened to the Google Search tool? Yelp Sucks!!! Also every route needs to be safe! Meaning do not guide drivers to roads that are not truck friendly. Last week I had to fight my way out of an residential area. GPS sent me down the wrong street!
After the update, it's useless for what I do. On version 9, I was able to select multiple waypoints on my route that I needed to go through (I pull oversize/overweight freight, and have to take a route that the state issues), and used the app to find my next turn. On version 10, not only do I have to do it one at a time, but I also have to go back and change the order of every waypoint. At times I have 100+ individual routes. I want version 9 back.
I transport Flammables, (compressed hydrogen). After setting up the proper profile. 48', 80,000 lbs & Flammable, the GPS routes me on roads that are posted with a 3 ton weight limit and residential streets. To the best of my knowledge, transporting a placarded payload through residential streets is considered "domestic terrorism". Is co-pilot liable for routing mistakes? I recommend that anybody interested in this app should reconsider.
Loved this before the new update, I miss the drag route option and since the update it has been telling me to take the worst routes. Same profile as before but nothing works as it used to. Luckily I know most of the routes that I usually take but it gets very confusing on new trips now. I may as well use Google maps since it seems to be the same app
Used since 2005 and it had never failed me. Since the 2017 update it's a nightmare. I wished the view options were back. I loved seeing the turn by turn and the trip info at the same time. Also starting a trip is now more difficult then choosing the go option. Sometimes less is more
I had to reset my phone. I can't get any customer support on password Reset! To me this is worthless with out customer support! FAQ don't cut it! Tried for over a week to get help. Patients wore out! Use other app till o can get help! Tried everything! Payed good money and can't use right now. Need to reset my password. Can't get any help! ---- My problem was resolved. I had to write this review to get it done. The app is the issue. It wouldn't let me get to the password reset. Now the app won't except the tempary password to reset my password! My email messages get rejected by their servers. Need more than FAQ'S
I've been using Copilot for years. Before the app I used it on my laptop. Still the best truck GPS. I've never trusted any GPS completely, and only use it as one part of trip planning. Things I like: The traffic bar is very accurate, low clearances and turn restrictions on map, easy to use once you get used to it, and I can use it on my phone or tablet. The best thing is you don't have to be online to use it. Only for traffic. I'd like to see some minor improvements like switching between toll and non toll roads on the main screen and easier menu navigation. It's made my job easier for a long time.
This was a good app until the oversize/overweight option was removed no it is no better than map quest or Google maps. Not useful for truck drivers. New app version keeps locking up or loosing gps feed so it does keep up with the routes.
Dump Yelp for online searches and bring back Google, please! Yelp is sorely lacking in non-retail locations such as government offices, distribution centers, etc. Custom vehicle profile entry restricts values, preventing accurate entry of vehicle weight, height, width, etc, in some cases (mostly applicable to commercial vans).
The last time I updated my review was 2014 & back then I wanted to go back 2 updates. Because this was a FAR better app. You would think I would have learned my lesson & stop updating this app. Because each update is worse then the last. freeway exits still show up as A POI. Which makes POI alerts useless. In this latest update Love's, Pilot/FJ & TA Petro have Been completely removed from POI. So you can't even look them up any more without a address. Other's have complained about routing. But since I pull a van with very little Hazmat. At least routing so works for me.
Excellent improvements over the years. I have owned Dezl's, Rand McNally's, tried the Smart Truck 2 app for the past several months. The Copilot is my go to GPS for doing my driving. The live traffic along with the bar is the greatest asset for knowing what is happening ahead. I love the traffic bar....
I haven't used Copilot Truck for about a year, since I have retired from full time trucking. I opened it today to research some routes I may want to use, but you have removed several options that were the primary reasons that I spent $150 on this app! When planning a trip, WTH happened to the "Pick on Map" option?? What happened to the "Oversize/Overweight" options?? This app is now useless to me and as far as I'm concerned, I have wasted the $150! Why is it that when something works well, you think you have to "improve" it? You have failed your customers.
I left what I wrote last when I reviewed this app. I gave it 5 stars then. It WAS a Great program. The last update has castrated it to no better than a TomTom running on a tablet or phone is the only thing it still has going for it. You can no longer set you own average speeds by road type. I drive a 65mph truck etc given for a 90% interstate run are way to quick. Etc for 90% secondary roads are why to long. No longer allow drag and drop route editing. Also the 3 options for route are nowhere near good 8 out of 10 times. If you have active traffic enabled and the is a road closed with a temporary road for a detour that adds nothing to the route there is no option to let you not use the apps reroute which in the case of hey 2 in Minnesota right now is a 30 to 40 mile detour and adds almost an hour to the email that is not needed as there is a temporary road running 1 block over. Don't spend your money on this unless you really need to have a truck routing gps on you tablet or phone. Give use our usability back. Stop dumbing the app down. Truck drivers can generally route better than a computer anyway! I had given only 3 stars because the POI search along route would only return about the next 30 miles. ALK saw my review and asked what I ment and now have improved the POI search along route to the best I have ever seen. Not only does it now truly give POIs for the entire route but if you are wanting to stop in say 5 hours you can restrict the search to roughly just 5 hours or so thus reducing search time and returning results faster. $150 vs $700 or $800 for stand alone gps. Great Buy!
Great update! Really an application the worth its price, enough information for travel to any place into USA safety. Great job!, Well done
When trying to edit a route, it's not responding to avoid road option, also, it has failed on two occasions to warn of major road closures on an interstate.
Fab is all I can say and to help out other drivers with the speed limit problem go to play store and get the app called (maps speed limits)
Been using for 6 years. Works great except a month prior to yearly update. Never had any routing problems except, like I said, a month before yearly update
Doesn't work we'll with the galaxy s6, only when it wants to
If it aint broke, don't fix it!!!! New update took away many features that made Copilot Truck unique and standout from all of the rest!
Support has gone above and beyond in helping me....thank you Andrea!!!
I want version 9 back. I agree with Michael Wiseman.
How can i go to the old version?
What happened to alternate routes
Too good for words...????
After the update the eta calculation is wrong. It showed, it would take me either 6 hours 55 or 7 hours 28 minutes, to complete a trip that only takes 4 hours 45 minutes. I use this feature to decide if I will be able to return to the distribution center or have to layover. It does, however, continue to correct the eta during the trip. But I need the correct eta before I start the trip
.Where is the " drag route"???, where is the option to pick location on the map???......this interface is very confusing. I liked the previous one. And the different routes are missing to....they showed up once, then the routing is screwed up too. From Vancouver, Canada to L.A. it routes me on i90 to snoqualmi pass, the back to I-5 ....please fix, and dont just tell me to call....
Seems to run more smoothly, but I just started using it on a phone with much faster processor. The interface is entirely different but I'm getting used to it and I'm liking it. However, many drivers will freak out as they abhor change.
So we can get use to the new layout, sure. BUT the routing is messed up. I'm in Effingham, IL on my way to Erie, PA. The route should be 70 to Columbus, OH to 270 to 71 and so on. It now wants to route me off 70 south of Dayton totally bypass 70 between Dayton and Columbus OH. How can I trust this now. It worked fine before. Can I get the old app back please. Also the remaining time is way off. I use this to figure out where I'm going to stop with elog and I can't trust the time now. This is going to be an issue. Maybe I need to play with it some more and I have the time setting on in the truck profile.
Won't give me other options for hazmat like NJ turnpike even though I am allowed with a few restrictions, makes for extra work for me then. Put me on a secondary road where I couldn't make the turn, good thing I could go left and get out of the situation. Still don't trust any GPS when in a big truck.
This new update is awful, I used to be,able to plan a,trip. Now the app has me going out of rout to dead ends just to turn around. I'm not following it, but that is,what it's suggesting I've had this app since 2011 looks like I need to discard it
The latest version is really on target for meeting truck driving needs, great rework of the map menus. ..best GPS out there.
Maps need updated more often. Think I like update so far other than dist and ett not updating on 3d split map.
It keeps freezing up after last update. Please fix and fix fasr
Not impressed with update to many changes at once.
OLDER VERSION NOW !!! TRUCKERS DO NOT UPDATE!!! NOT SAFE!!!
The gps is very very goof
1. If you want help on improving this, you need to help us to do so. As in missing information. 1. Why not show us on the map for missing address or streets. 2. Make it easier to show on main screen ny a touch for errors with the road we're on. So much more is needs improvement. You need someone with God given sense helping you with this.
I have been using this app since 2012. It has followed me across several phones and even tablets. I love being able to save the maps to my sd card, and being able to cherry pick which maps I want downloaded. Well worth the price. Only thing to remember is that it is not flawless, so still be diligent in making sure the routes are truck legal.

the app does work better then I expected. The routing and planning are great for picking a route and just go to the plan button and add stops. I can just drag any stop to the order i need to stop at first. The different truck profiles also works nice when using heights that have to avoid bridges. I am still not seeing speed alerts in my area and have them enabled
