AZULÃO

O azulão (Cyanocompsa brissonii) é uma ave passeriforme da família Fringillidae. Também é conhecida pelos nomes de azulão-bicudo, azulão-do-nordeste, azulão-do-sul, azulão-verdadeiro, guarundi-azul, gurandi-azul, gurundi-azul e tiatã.

Caracterização:

O azulão mede aproximadamente 15 cm de comprimento. O macho possui plumagem totalmente azul-escura quando adulto, com a fronte, sobrancelhas e coberteiras superiores das asas azuis-brilhantes. A fêmea e os imaturos são marrons-pardos.
Está ave é territorialista, não possível vê-las em bando. Caso exista um casal em devida localização, só será possível encontrar outro casal há uma certa distância. Os filhotes de azulão ficam com seus pais até um certo tempo, depois partem para uma vida "independente", pois o instinto territorialista do azulão não o deixará ficar por perto após estar na fase adulta. Assim, o filhote terá que achar seu próprio território e sua parceria para acasalamento.

Esta ave é encontrada na beira de pântanos, matas secundárias e plantações, do Nordeste e Brasil central ao estado do Rio Grande do Sul, bem como na Bolívia, Paraguai e Argentina e também no norte da Venezuela, Chile e Colômbia. Existem algumas diferenças entre espécies de regiões diferentes, como canto e cores diferentes.

Alimentação:

Sua alimentação é bem variada, porém seu cardápio é baseado, sobretudo, em sementes, algumas frutas e insetos.

Reprodução:

O azulão se reproduz entre setembro e fevereiro, constrói seu ninho não muito longe do solo e cada ninhada geralmente tem entre 2 e 3 ovos. Os filhotes nascem entre 13 e 15 dias após a fêmea botar os ovos.
