Instrument Compatibility:
ChordLab is an intelligent universal (multi-instrument and multi-tuning) chord finder that incorporates human preferences in the process of creating tabs. It works for any (real or imaginary) commonly fretted chordophone (string instrument). Commonly fretted chordophones are characterized by having frets in one semitone intervals that start at a common position (called nut).

This is a very exciting app! I remember as a young man learning basic guitar chords for the first time and purchasing a poster from a music shop that had a bunch of the chord shapes on it and thinking that those were all the chords we had to work with. It wasn't until I started learning how chords were made and how each note of a chord relates to another that I realized there are probably hundreds of chord shapes that people never use because most people don't take the time to learn them. This app gives you literally every single chord shape imaginable by using a very smart mathematical algorithm to figure each shape that is possible for a human to play and it will work on any instrument and any tuning! This app is not lacking anything that I have found yet. This is really a great tool if you play in a band with two guitars and you want to find new variations of chords to compliment each other then this is invaluable

Very use full ap, specially when you have a traditional string instrument not so know, like the "viola campaniça", and you only can find in the internet the major and minor chords. Its really great that you can choose number of strings vs tuning of each one, and you have all the possible chords!

Super flexible, tried lots of very specific chords for different tunings with my guitar, ukulele and mandolin and it worked flawlessly. It's nice that you can choose between multiple options and that it puts the best on top. But my favorite feature: I can use it everywhere, namely in bars and places with no internet :)

App was not able to simulate my Banduria (philippine version). They have 14 strings. App only allows for up to 12. Also app only allows for single or pairs. Filipino banduria have 1 single, 2 double and 3 triple strings. Improve capability and I would repurchase.

The interface could use a little spit and polish, but this app is powerfully informative. Churns out more chords than you could want for every tuning you care to throw at it.
