About Alberto Pizzo, pianist
Alberto Pizzo was born in Naples. He began studying piano since he was young. In 2004 he graduated from the Conservatory "San Pietro a Majella" in Naples and participated in various national and international piano competitions. In 2006 he graduated Second Level in Piano Concerto, in the same Conservatory of Naples. In February 2007, as a solo pianist, he performed music for Rai International for a program of Vincenzo Bellini and in the same year was the author and performer of music for the program GEO & GEO RaiTre.
In 2009 he gave a concert in Japan at the headquarters of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, performing both solo and with accompaniment by soprano Yuki Sunami. In 2010 he joined the group of artists represented by Gianni Sergio’s agency Palco Reale. In 2011 he moved to New York, where he performed in some bars and restaurants in the Greenwich Village.
At the beginning of 2012 he started working with the historical label Cinevox Record by Franco Bixio for the production of his first album titled Funambulist. The album contains some revisited popular soundtracks: pieces by artists, such as Ennio Morricone, CA Bixio, Goblin, Bixio - Frizzi - Tempera, and Neapolitan songs and unpublished tracks composed by Alberto himself. In November of the same year, as part of the Jazz Festival in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, Alberto met guitarist and producer Fabrizio Sotti, who for over 20 years has lived and established his business in New York. Sotti became the Artistic Producer of Alberto’s second album On The Way distributed by Egea Music, and plays his guitar in some of the tracks. Participating in the record project that was recorded in spring of 2013 live at Bunker Studio in New York, in addition to Fabrizio Sotti, were musicians, such as Mino Cinelu, Renzo Arbore, Toquinho and David Knopfler, with whom Alberto realized a new song recorded in London in October 2013. The title of the song is "This ship has sailed" written and sung by Knopfler, music by Alberto Pizzo, who plays the piano with Martin Ditcham (drummer Rolling Stones, Sade, Elton John), Pete Shaw (bassist of U2 also), Harry Bogdanovs (guitarist John Elthon, Westernhagen, John Farnham), and Luca Signorini (principal cellist of the Teatro San Carlo in Naples).
In 2014 the promotional tour of On The Way opened with various concerts first held in the U.S., then in Italy and Japan. The most relevant concert was the US tour on the 4th of March in New York with 7 concerts including one at the Metropolitan Room. Following this was the event held in Italy where Alberto performed along with Chick Corea, and then in New York at the Highline Ballroom where he was the only Italian artist for the Blue Note Jazz Festival.
Alberto performed more than 40 concerts in the summer of 2014. In November he debuted as musical director and pianist at the Teatro Diana in Naples, in the show "La sciantosa" with actress and singer Serena Autieri.
On the 12th of January 2015, at the Teatro Diana in Naples Alberto was the protagonist of the new musical project “3 PIANO GENERATIONS - 3 Pianos on stage” produced by Palco Reale with Luis Bacalov and Danilo Rea. In February 2015, his song "Mediterranean" was chosen and published by Sony Music in a collection of the best artists who performed on stage during the 2014 Palco Smeraldo Eataly in Milan. In March, in Hamburg he became an "Official Yamaha Artist." This occasion opened a prestigious collaboration with the most impressive brand in the world of pianos. In June 2015 Alberto went to London at the iconic Abbey Road Studios to record some songs from his new album, accompanied by the legendary London Symphony Orchestra.
He performed again with the 3 PIANO GENERATIONS with Luis Bacalov and Stefano Bollani, and at the Festival of 2Mondi with Luis Bacalov and Rita Marcotulli.
In November 2015 Alberto joined Sony Classical, which will launch his third album in early 2016, MEMORIES.
