Alarm.com for Android
Malfunction. Have had mobile device malfunction notification at top of app screen for some time now but everything appears to be working. Says same on web view for this device Google Pixel Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Update: Had a very prompt response from Alarm.com as a result of this review via email to help resolve the above issue. All good now. :-)
My bedroom is downstairs where the control panel is and my kitchen is upstairs with that been said my husband came home and trip the alarm by mistake. I did not hear the alarm going off upstairs but the volume is up as high as it will go. Now I don't feel as comfortable and I notice lately my alarm texting me saying my fire alarm is off line and back on line. NOT COMFORTABLE AT HOME ANYMORE.
Excellent app, very handy, does what it says. However, the latest feature of being able to hold down the mainscreen icon and get four scenarios is not available unless you have Android 7.1. In earlier versions you have to create a widget for each of four options given to you. Why?
It used to work great. Now we cannot disarm the alarm with it. I thought it was just my phone but it is also my husbands. Pretty annoying
Easy to use! Setup is easy! Picture is Great! Setting zones for camera is easy, wish could do angles not just Boxes! But all in all this is fast & easy to use!
Older version would take 5 to10 seconds to remotely engage or disarm the house alarm. The latest version either doesn't work at all or takes roughly 5 minutes to transmit and receive to base station. What gives?
Very easy to learn and use. The armed away no delay is a feature I really like. I love having the easy access to arm and disarm my system.
Great app. Love that we can control alarm and lights on our mobile phones.
Even though I don't have the latest version with video, I still love the easy use and comfortability my system brings
The app has the basic features. The one thing I wish it had was a panic button. Or a way to add it as an extra button

I love the app. It affords me the ability to adjust anything from anywhere. To include keeping any kids thoughts of their ability to 'sneak out or in'. I can also see what may be malfunctioning & have that addressed within 24 hrs. This is a win-win-win! Thank You & in Great Gratitude in your assistance in keeping my family & home very protected on all fronts!
What's the point of the app if it won't work. Calling support was no help at all. What am I paying for? UPDATE...I got the email and appreciate the quick response and look forward to seeing how it gets handled by the company. Thank you! UPDATE MAY 11, 2017 running into the same problem again. It didn't take my setting the alarm at the keypad and won't take it via this app. Again! Getting error code 6.
Still my favorite app! I can't wait for what they have next! I love this system so much! Getting my lights to automatically turn on for me before I get home at night is the greatest thing since sliced bread! Also, what's that, your hands are full? No need to fumble with keys, unlock your door from your app while in your car, then carry the bags in! Greatest! If that wasn't enough I can see my dogs all day long while I'm at work through my cameras and I just added the garage feature so it tells me if I forgot to close it after I left my house.
It would be awesome if a panic feature could be added. What are the chances a homeowner is going to be right next to the panel to be able to use the panic feature. Considering that most of us have our phone within arms distance, it only makes sense to have a panic feature on the app. Also, I would like to keep an eye on at least one of my cameras without being timed out. It would be awesome to be able to keep an eye on a particular area without having to refresh the feed. Update 4/21/17 Still no panic feature.
Love the UI. Simple and easy to use. Response time is literally within seconds if an alarm goes off. Very pleased. Even if it was an accident that set it off! Have only had the system 2 days but can honestly say i think this was the best decision me and my girls couldve made for our home.
I like the system , but i have to say since i dont remember the panic # since i don't use it as i use my pin # setting the alarm . I wish that it could be any 4 numbers that dont relate to the actual pin number. That being said if an intruder came in at a threatening manner telling any one of my family members to turn off the alarm they could punch in any phone numbers that didn't match thepin # now this could be at gunpoint or a knife someone telling you to disable the alarm . I love the fact the alarm will be disabled me being notified and law enforcement would be on their way until other wise you are notified that all is ok .alarm off all you have to do is pushing the right #s happen to remember the numbers that you're supposed to punch in plus the other safety measurements. For my children god forbid that situation arises help would be on the way thinking that the alarm is disabled ,Intruder wouldnt be the wiser , that is easier than remebering a panic code with i love but can not remember . Until iand my family know the numbers , and practice it . I suggest everyone know it but now it works but it's a good system none-the-less
this app has more shortfalls than positives. there is absolutely no way to add or change any information on your account. phone number, email or payment methods. toy have to call in and have someone manually enter the info. if you want to add sensors or video.......you can't.
Has been working flawlessly for over a year. I now have my Home and Business connected under the same app! I can now track who when and what is happening in my home while still able to control my office at the same time. Very easy to use a monkey could do it.
I love this app, but it's lack of consistency is super stressful. There's a delay and it doesn't always arm/disarm the system even when we're standing right in the garage. When it works it's AMAZING, but when it doesn't it causes so much stress. There's been times when it's even disarmed in the middle of the night because the app commands finally went through. :(
Very user friendly with multiple features. The update for the fingerprint log in option is great.....except the button located above it "log in with username" always gets pressed because I have big fingers. Needs to be addressed.
Due to an oversight on my part, I initially rated the this app lower. I now give it 5 stars not only for the app but for the app support. The support group reached out to me immediately after I had stated my issues and my concerns were addressed immediately. It all works well.
Great app but it still needs some tweaking such as, why can't I remove the error alerts. Every time I get one it just stays there taking room on my screen and no way to delete it.
**UPDATE: I have uninstalled reinstalled as well as updated the app and I am still not getting push notifications. It keeps telling me there is a malfunction with my Samsung phone. I even emailed as previously requested through here and never got a response.** The new update that happened just recently (last few days) now does not give my phone push notifications like it use too and today I got a text message that says there is a malfunction with my phone but I can still use the app on my phone, just not getting push notifications anymore not sure why.
App is ok. As of today 11 May app has been slow to respond. It does not matter if I open the app or arm the system to stat mode, it takes a while to even get the app to respond. I get an error code 6.
Pros: Sometimes works. Cons: Often doesn't work. Often shows a "malfunction" message. Restarting the app or my phone doesn't resolve it. Often doesn't communicate with my panel, even if I use the app while standing in front of my panel, and if the panel has a mechanical issue the mobile app will ultimately become obsolete. Often shows a different status than my panel (which others have reported and is therefore a known issue), and sometimes shows a different status several minutes after it *was* armed/disarmed. But THE MOST CRTITCAL ISSUE is that when the panel & mobile communication is faulty the panel *WILL* somehow disarm itself. That's... very disconcerting. It seems as though the app/panel and all levels of cellular communication could benefit with more testing before any type of update/release. Please!
A recent update broke the notification functionality. However they did patch it relatively quickly. I do wish they had sent a technical bulletin about it though. support was very good.
Wished you could make any (all) necessary changes (updates) that need correcting to account and control panel without a computer, laptop or tablet. Calls or emails included.
Push notifications and generally using the app to operate the system stopped working a few days ago. Updating to the latest release hasn't resolved the problem. This is the first time I've had problems with this app.

Love the app. After the recent update I was not receiving push notifications. I contacted customer support, worked with the settings and for now all is working well.
