About Lectionary: From the CofE

Integrate the Church of England's pattern of daily Bible readings seamlessly into your life with the official Common Worship Lectionary app for iPad.

For each day of the church year, it presents the Common Worship lectionary readings in full, complete with dynamic links to the Bible passages themselves (NRSV translation). All approved variations are clearly presented, including the Additional Weekday Lectionary.

The app also allows you to:

- Access the Collect and Post-Communions for the day at the touch of a button.
- Mark and annotate records – ideal for service planning.
- View the week's lectionary in a single page.
- Start your annual lectionary whenever you like: no need to wait for the new church year.
- Remove the first paragraph of text about errors (should now be resolved)

The app is free to download and includes a free 14 day subscription. After this period, an in-app subscription must be purchased to receive further content.

There are two types of subscription available:

- Basic subscription: Lectionary references, Collects and Post Communions are always available, but NRSV Bible readings are only available when you are connected to the Internet (£4.99 for 12 months).

- Full subscription: includes all NRSV Bible Readings immediately available at all times, even when you are not connected to the Internet (£8.99 for 12 months).

3 month subscriptions are also available.

The Common Worship Lectionary app includes the official Calendar, Bible Readings (NRSV) and Collects from the Church of England.

Very useful App

O70%
by O####:

So much easier to use than the paper copies and excellent to have everything in one place.

U70%
by U####:

I use it all the time. It is essential for anyone in ministry

Q70%
by Q####:

The app is useful but it is relatively expensive, especially the off line version. Young people and those on low incomes should be encouraged to pray, not deterred by cost. Can the Church of England really not afford to subsidise this app so it can be offered free of charge to a world so sorely in need of prayer?

W70%
by W####:

This app never gets the date right. I could find the reading quicker in the book. Why can't it print too?

U70%
by U####:

The date issue was a nuisance, but the app is very valuable on the whole...

U70%
by U####:

Very good for all members of the Anglican Church to have

U70%
by U####:

especially for preparing intercessions when it's my turn on the rota. I have a separate question : do you have an app for prayer during the night (for insomniacs like me!)?

R70%
by R####:

I'm a subscriber, and I'm sticking with the app, but it desperately needs a rewrite. There are so many irritants: to of my list is making "share" work, or at least providing a copy function. I use this information, but the app doesn't help me. Two stars added, because of the option to open on "today": thanks for moving forward, and please keep pressing on.

G70%
by G####:

Great app, just a bit annoying it won't jump to current date: always seems to be a month to scroll down.

D70%
by D####:

I travel between UK and France through the year so this is supremely portable. Works very well and is simple to use

M70%
by M####:

When I paid it wouldn't let me subscribe instantly. I have to wait 7 days for the subscription to take effect. Why why why? It won't retrieve subscription info. I so miss the good old spreadsheet I could load into MS Outlook.

See Barry Unwin's comment on 22nd December 2015 - why can't my subscription start straightaway? I want to look at future dates but can't go beyond date of free trial. I don't need a free trial - I need full access from day one.

T70%
by T####:

I had this last year and lived with its shortcomings, mainly the current date was very erratic. After renewing the subscription I was locked out of the lectionary with no way to activate the new subscription. I have tried deleting the app and now it won't install, same code 103 error, or "package not properly signed". £8.99 down the drain methinks.

I70%
by I####:

It would be a brilliant app, if you could cut and paste text and bible readings.

W70%

Can Aimer explain why I have to wait a week before I can access this app please?

R70%
by R####:

have the burgundy front page which then goes onto a white blank page with back and arrow on the top let corner with rest blank - doesn't load so waste of my £4.99 - how do i get a refund -not delivered the said product!

As a retired priest whose just got PTO just what I need. Long term computer user and just trying to work how to integrate it in my systems. Not sure which will work best on or off line. Thanks team

I have had some trouble with the app not recognizing my subscription. I tried everything, ended up canceling and resubscribing (and then spent quality time trying to be reimbursed for one of the subscriptions ). At this point, the app works again. I don't think I actually did a thing to fix it. From reading other comments, this seems to be a consistent problem for people. Otherwise, I love this app.

Problem recognizing existing subscription now sorted...all well again, thank you

R70%

A very useful app, especially when planning worship in advance. Reasonably priced too.

R70%

This was only a trial. After a while, it would not let me use it without payment. I was quite disappointed.

Q70%

Easy to use and very useful. But Link to subscribe is not working on my LG G Pad.

As someone who works for the CofE for nothing, it's a shame it's so expensive(it is if one has low income!)

R70%
by R####:

I am happy to have this content on my mobile. It is a shame that the "This week" button takes me to 2nd December when my phone is set to the correct date (March 28th) I have to use clumsy menu system to find the right text for the day each time. (Android 5.1) Update: Thanks for quick feedback. Unfortunately it's now refusing to recognise my subscription purchased via the play store so won't give me the information I need over Easter weekend. Have downgraded further because now it's useless. (Apr 4)

by I####:

I have found this app useful but it gives no indication that you need a subscription to use it other than the unhelpful in app purchases with no indication of cost. I realise it needs to be funded so saying how much it is may be useful. Also I see a reply saying the reason for the cost is the use of the bible although this is free from other apps. I do think it is probably worth the subscription if this is central to your job, for laity it would be useful to have a cheap or free cut down version. Thanks for the reply, my initial response was overly critical.

R70%
by R####:

The app is fine, but when the paper copy is £4.99 (or £3.99 on Amazon), £8.99 is a bit steep for a year's data.

R70%
by R####:

A lectionary app that isn't bundled with bible access would be welcome. Or a free (or low cost one off price) option in this app, which just lists the lessons. And the suggestion from the authors that the price is good value compared to a lectern bible misses the point in so, so many ways

S70%
by S####:

Updates stopped working so I uninstalled the app which would not then reload! Space not an issue and other larger apps still load.

H70%
by H####:

Have had about four attempts to subscribe to app. In early January, it provides readings for 15 December. It constantly says 'subscription successful' closely followed by ' error retrieving subscription' - at one point ended up with two parallel subscriptions and still cannot cancel one of them.

N70%
by N####:

As someone in the US Episcopal Church, the CofE's policy on its resources is absolutely ridiculous. Our entire current BCP is totally in the public domain, yet the CofE wants you to pay for a lectionary? That's ridiculous.

I70%
by I####:

its very good for all cathics..

Further to the developers reply I tried installing the update to my phone again. Error 103 - whatever that is! For the record, I am paid up until April. PS I did not write 'hated it' which appears above
