تأسست الجمعية الإسلامية سنة 1979م علي يد نخبة من مشايخنا حفظهم الله ومجموعة من أهل الخير والمحسنين تحت شعار قول الله تعالى"وَقُلِ اعْمَلُوا فَسَيَرَى اللَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُ وَالمُؤْمِنُونَ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَى عَالِمِ الغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ" حيث تلتزم بمنهجها الدعوي الثقافي الإسلامي الوسطي وبتوفير الدعم والمساعدات المالية والعينية وغيرها من المساعدات بجميع السبل الممكنة إلى الفقراء والمساكين والمحتاجين وغيرهم ومن في حكمهم من أفراد مجتمعنا في البحرين أو في أي بقعة من بقاع العالم، وأيضاً تقوم بتلبية احتياجات الناس والأفراد من مشاريع إغاثية أو طارئة أو بناء ما شابه ذلك في البحرين وفي جميع أنحاء العالم حسب الحاجة.
