About Satellite AR

Ever wondered what satellites are flying above your head when you look up? This app will show them to you using augmented reality. Point your phone's camera to the sky, and small icons track the locations of various satellites. Those in sunlight are colored yellow to help you look for them on a clear night.

See "Developer's website" (linked from this page) for more information, including the full changelog. If you find bugs or have questions, please report by email, as there is no mechanism for us to respond to comments left as reviews. Thanks!

I align dishes as part of my job & this has been a useful tool for giving me a snapshot view of the sats when dish location & line-of-site is in question. Best one I have tried, very user friendly, & most importantly, it hasn't locked up my phone (which is a problem I ran into when trying other apps of this type). Awesome app!

It keeps telling me to enable gps or wireless settings. They are enabled! So I never get anywhere past that dialogue box.

Tried emailing the developer and it bounced. I think this app is dead. The selection buttons are essentially unre adable because they are so small. Connection over WiFi often fail requiring phone data. Last UI could be better. Having said all this, it usually works pretty well.

First, you can't beat the price, now it is hard to put it down. To all the people who complained about this, learn how to modify your phone! I must have burnt one or two calories installing this

I only have a quick question how will I know DirecTV installers will be able to get a lock on their TV satellite for me to be able to get a signal. If I point my phone to the sky can see where it shows the DirecTV satellites does this mean that I can get a signal?

This application DOES NOT work on the Droid Charge. I tried endlessly to connect on both 4G, 3G and on WIFI and all I get is a message stating "This program is operating in off-line mode. For best results, connect to the network and reload this menu. I even tried to reinstall it twice." No go!!

I have had this FREE, ad FREE, almost data usage FREE, app installed on everything I've had for many years flawlessly, from eclair to jellybean. It functions great with a short learning curve. I recommend this app for anyone that looks at the night sky and wonders what that little dot is moving across the sky. Potentially visible and ISS are the best. Right now I'm trying to find a geostationary sat with my telescope. Only 1 thing I would + is coordinates, heading, and speed info at the touch of the screen.

I'm sure this is a great app if it works, but on my Galaxy SII it just tries to load the menu, then goes into demo mode and shows only 1 Satellite. Tried with 3G and Wifi numerous times, confirmed working internet connection. Link to developers page from Market doesn't work either.

This app has an interesting concept: Visualize satellites on a live camera overlay. Unfortunately, it thinks my Nexus 5 is a tablet and renders two columns of impossible to click options (unlike the screenshot above). I'll certainly be able to give a better rating once I'm able to effectively use it.

This use to be a useful app, when it showed see list of satellites and dispossess accurate look angles based on your gps location. Now it is nothing more than a cheesy star map. Can you please bring back this functionally for us antenna installers?

I was able to track the international space station just moments ago. I could also follow it as a light with my naked eye and it disappeared very close to what the app was displaying. The alignment with my phone was spot on. A friend was doing it and the forever skeptic I am I had to try it. Impressed!

Great app. Two thing I would love to see that might easily be implemented. Smoother tracking. The target seems to jump. Also a visual "red" setting for the sky map and targets. Red will not hurt your night vission when holding up the phone and your eyes going back and forth...phone, sky, phone, sky...

Not tested in the real world as yet but predictions of ISS becoming visible tie in with other sources exactly...updates on a less cloudy night! Got a break in the clouds, ISS was exactly where it should have been (after I had waited for the tree to get out of the way!)

The Directv and Dish network satellites don't show in the correct location. It should show the orbital slot of the satellites that would help a lot. Went back to Dish Pointer Pro $20 but worth every penny!

I loved this app on my Galaxy 5 Player (not a phone). Now that I have a Galaxy S6 all the buttons are tiny and fill a corner of the screen. You need a magnifying glass to read the buttons and a tiny finger to hit the right button. If an update comes out soon to fix the display I'll change to 5 star. All the satelite views still look fine if you can hit the right button.

I used this app for a week than locked up. No matter what direction i pointed my phone it stayed stuck south. What do you expect for free i guess.

This was a pretty useful app. Now it doesn't work. . Says something like, not connected to server. Every other app works. I have unlimited data and still no go. Even when I am connected to WiFi. ..still no go...

For the last update being in 2012, it is amazing. For the people that see satellites passing overhead, but not identified by the app, its identity is probably not available to the public. Would be great if the number of stars could be reduced to constellations only though.

Tis app worked great with my S# but now that I have an S6 edge plus it doesn't work at all. Tried the usual, removed, cleared data, etc. and reinstalled still didn't work. All of my other apps that use gps work fine.

Saw something cruising across the night sky. Pulled this out for the first time, took aim, and it was the international space station! This is my new fav app, and will be for any sky or nature geek. :))

The app has extremely tiny text. I cannot read a thing on there. I have to squint to read. Too difficult, useless if it takes me forever to read it.

This used to work the other day. I use it as a back up, I am a DirecTV tech and my inclo broke. All of the sudden its stuck in demo mode. Reinstalled multiple times and tried other phones. Same. I have a Galaxy Note 5.

It's really cool but... there's a little green bar that's flashing at the bottom of the screen when I enter the view mode and it hurts my eyes like crazy... hate to do it, because it seems to work fine finding satellites, but uninstalled. Samsung Stratosphere.

I was very impressed with it's ui. It super imposes a star map with animated satellites over real-camera images of your night sky. I was blown away. Nice work!

Will not run after using it twice. Goes to error mode.Gives the message offline demo mode. For best results connect to the network and reload this menu. Uninstalled it twice and got the same results. Great idea just not working.

This looks like a great app. I loaded it up and could not read a single letter on the screen. I have a Galaxy S4 and even with the magnifying glass, I can barely see what buttons to push. Mine does not look anything like the photos on this page. Maybe it is just for a tablet. It is definitely not designed for a 5 in screen phone. Even my girlfriend has a really hard time seeing the screen and she has really good vision. The little bit of playing with it, seem to do what I want in an app. Just need to make it where I can see it. Please adjust the font size. Thanks.

Works well for me I use it every day for sat installs with directv. It's off by just a bit to the right, so point left a hair.

S70%
by S####:

I tried this to align my directv. No instructions at all. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty cool. But you need to be a prof and familiar with how to handle a phone as a compass. At one point I was tilting the phone up and down and it was showing a movement left to right. Made no sense and I'm pretty good at figuring things out. Getting the satellite tilt up and down is the hard part. Left and right is easy. Point it south and move it an inch at a time until you start to get signal on the signal screen.

The version I used on a Motorola Defy XT was great, and I gave it 5 stars! This version on a Droid Turbo has an unreadable menu due to teenie, tiny fonts. I hope it can be fixed, but I'm uninstalling now, since I can not use it effectively. I'll try out a future version.

If you can touch & look up! It will work for you, if you have vision in one eye it works. It's so very simple. GALAXY S5

Was impressed with the camera overlay. But it wouldn't load the all satellites. Change settings to GPS and loaded but crashed after 10 seconds or so. Continued loading with various options turned off and it seems to have stabilized. Now with all the bells and whistles going. This would have been very handy while installing DirecTV. Would give it five stars if the initial experience wasn't so buggy. The database, starmaps and camera options seem to have to fight it out for a while before they all work together.

I can't believe agi provided this app for free. It would be nice to be able to cache ephemeris so it can be used without an internet connection, but I'm not going to complain.

I used this app for my job as a DirecTV technician to show ignorant customers to let them know there is no line of sight

Gets about 5 GPS on this tablet. The screen is very lagged, most of the time you've gone right past where the sats are and see it jump right past your screen. Selection of objects is great, performance is horrible. ICS 4.0.3
