About Tunable: Tuner, Metronome, Rec

From the creators of NodeBeat comes Tunable, the most intuitive visual toolkit for musicians.

Tunable is a chromatic tuner, tone/chord generator, metronome, and recorder that helps you learn to play steadily, in tune, and on beat. Featuring a unique “tuning history” display for visualizing pitch over time, Tunable is the perfect toolkit for beginning to professional musicians.

★ Learn to play in tune with sustained pitch history ★
Visualize how steadily you play or sing. As notes are held out, a white line draws how steady the pitch is. The straighter the line, the more consistent the pitch.

★ Improve your ear with tone and chord generator ★
Need a reference tone or chord? Use the tone and chord generator to play and sustain chords with various tone options. Choose from different temperaments to hear how they compare.

★ Keep tempo with an accurate and simple metronome ★
See the pulse with a visual metronome. View subdivision and current beat, with a large display and visual flash.

★ Record and share ★
Record your practice and performances. Add reverb for a professional sound. Share recordings through e-mail, SoundCloud, Dropbox and more.

What are users saying about Tunable: Tuner, Metronome, Rec

by M####:

Metronome could have some more customization on pitch, reverb and what beats are accented. A decibel or volume meter would also work well with the tuner.

X70%
by X####:

Landscape and inverted screen support. A basic wave editor. Mp3 share. More complex additive timesigs for metronome. Easier to adjust frequency... A to 456 in one click for example.

Y70%
by Y####:

If only you can include all the features in recording from K*rg TMR-50, this would be an perfectly awesome app for practicing. 1. Recording while tuning, so people can see if they're in the correct pitch for some phrasing. This is very useful for some instruments e.g violin 2. Recording with metronome but the metronome is only flashing while recording but on the playback there is beep. It also has countdown before recording. (These 2 feature can be seen from their promotion video) 3. Quick silent toggle for metronome would be an awesome addition. Just for quick glance while practicing without recording (Just my stupid opinion) Well, until then this would be 3 stars for me.

I love this app and how it has such a simple design and still really effective. But on Android it seems that the tuner history is alot shorter than the iPhone version of this app. I can see alot more of my history on an iPhone but less on an Android. I'm not sure if this is because of my phone model but I find that quite annoying.

X70%
by X####:

The visualisation of the tuning process is wonderfully executed, making it a pleasure to use. The settings dialogue looks a bit old-hat now, and I'd love to see it updated to be in line with the current Android design specifications, but that's a minor gripe really. Can recommend to all musicians out there!

M70%
by M####:

Is there any way to slow down the tuner? It moves quite fast and can be troublesome when trying to keep track of pitch wavers in long suspended notes. Would be 5 stars if this could happen, thanks!

K70%
by K####:

Metronome is a bit dodgy. You either have to plus-or-minus one bpm at a time, or arrow up or down using arbitrary pre-set increments. Would work a lot better if it allowed keypad input.

M70%
by M####:

I originally rated 4, but after I learned I could tap the middle to set tempo, it took away all my complaints. I just wish that feature wasn't buried in the features section. This app is totally worth more than a dollar!

M70%
by M####:

I just learned that there was a 2.0.0 update for iOS last October. I understand that utility apps usually don't require frequent updates, but the Android app has not seen an update in years. This is the only app on my phone that still has the legacy menu icon and the only app that uses Gingerbread-era sliders and buttons. The intonation meter still lags when hiding the tone generator, even with 216 flagship phone. It's a shame, too, since this is probably the best combined tuner/metronome available anywhere.

O70%
by O####:

This app works great except if you're trying to read a sheet music PDF on the same device while the app runs. The tempo will fluctuate wildly whenever I open my Adobe reader app while Tunable runs in the background. The metronome will randomly make little popping noises, followed by either a slow down or acceleration, and then the tempo will return to normal until it happens again. This makes it nearly impossible to read sheet music on my tablet while using tunable at the same time.

by M####:

Just what I've been looking for. I play saxophone, an instrument that naturally plays out of tune. The interface is responsive, giving feedback at 3 skill levels and pleasant to work with. I especially like that the scrolling trace can be enlarged when you don't need tuning notes. The metronome is a metronome (not a drum machine wannabe) with preset levels for pretty much every music speed. This is a serious app for serious musicians.

M70%
by M####:

It worked great for the first week, now it just has the tuning line not doing anything else. Its been like this for a couple of weeks. Worst app I have ever paid for or have even gotten on my phone.

Y70%
by Y####:

This app is one of the best around and worth the price, The free offerings just aren't as good. The reason for 4 stars is because there is an occasional crash. (like 1 in 50) This app has completely replaced my need for a physical tuner and an app I'd recommend for any musician whether it's a student, band director or professional soloist.

U70%
by U####:

I absolutely love this app, it is a must have for any serious musician. There is one thing that is holding it back from being 5 stars however. One of the major flaws that I see is in the metronome. I have searched all over the app and cannot find a way to unaccent the first beat of the measure. This is a large downside for me because most of the music I play does not stay in a single meter. What would really put this app over the top for me would be the ability to toggle that accented down beat on or off.

Y70%
by Y####:

Whenever I turn my screen off to use a drone, the sound stutters in the background. Not sure if it's the app or device settings, but I'd really appreciate some help! Also, a separate panel for the drone would be nice

G70%
by G####:

But please let me choose more metronome sounds! Those beeps are grating after long sessions... Could we get something similar to the ProTools click?

F70%
by F####:

It does everything you need it to, and a whole bunch of stuff you probably don't (but the thing doesn't feel clunky!)

Y70%
by Y####:

I use this app daily for tuning, metronome, and recording of my playing. It executes everything it needs to flawlessly and without hassle. Perfect fit. The only request I have is being able to rename recordings or add notes to a recording. If that was added, this app would be perfect.

Y70%
by Y####:

This is a beautiful little tuner. Simple to use and follow. The metronome is possibly the best feature because it has a useful flashing function. The developer is very customer friendly if you ever have any questions.

Y70%
by Y####:

Pros: -Good UI. -Very functional metronome. -Simple layout. Cons: -UI still needs some work (especially the settings menu). -Does not hide Android virtual buttons. -A bit slow during start up.

Y70%

I'm in a high school marching band and at the time I'm using this all the time to help both my section (clarinet) and myself have better intonation.

Y70%
by Y####:

I dont really understand why its not doing what its supposed to

Y70%
by Y####:

User interface is very clean, although it could do with a material design upgrade. I don't see why this app isn't more popular than it is.

Y70%
by Y####:

The best app for a combined tuner/metronome available. I'd like a sound analysis feature also. That would make this even better.

T70%
by T####:

The app does a a fairly good job, when it's working. Mine has freezing problems.

T70%

Excellent interface. I especially like the features of the pitch generator (different waveforms, stackable pitches)

This app used to work, now it's just a blank screen with a green stripe. I loved this app, but it just isn't working anymore.

T70%

Update to material design and still its kinda buggy

E70%
by E####:

The tuning is perfect, but the metronome becomes glitchy when the app is in the background. Also, the Gingerbread era UI is rather unappealing at this point.

G70%
by G####:

This is as really great app! Its definitely worth the money!

S70%

Even though a bit different from traditional tuners, I found it easy to learn. It's also accurate so far as I can determine. The ability to "play" real chords and with a huge number of different temperaments is handy and very interesting. I use it often.

X70%

I have this app on an iPad as well as an Android phone. I have sound issues with the metronome when its on. It changes volume constantly. I DON'T have this issue on iPad.

I love this app, it's a fantastic metronome and tuner as well as reference pitch generator. For me this app replaced iStrobosoft as well as the FrozenApe metronome that I've been using for a few years now. I'm very impressed by the different available subdivisions on the metronome, especially on the odd side like 5's and 7's. My only complaint is there is no material design. In my opinion a sleek Material interface could push this app into the 'Beautiful and Functional' category. That would make it for me, otherwise great app

K70%
by K####:

Please fix the perfect 4th, major 6th, minor 6th, minor 7th intervals within the Just Temperment setting. These particular intervals do not register correctly in any key making this app useless. The Petersen analog tuner and iOS Tonal Energy app were used as a comparison.

A holy grail of tuners for every wind player. Whether a seasoned pro, band director, teacher, or an aspiring rookie, you should get one.
