WiFi@Home for Android
This lean and easy to use App will toggle WiFi automatically when you cross a given distance around your home location.
The (approximate) location information is acquired from the network, not from GPS.
Android 4.0.4 is the last officially supported Android version. The new Energy Saver Mode limits the functionality of the App and makes it expendable.
It sets my home location at a cell tower miles away, not the wifi router in my house. Huh?? And I see no way of setting it manually.
Thinks I live about 10 miles away from where I do. I'm giving it 2 stars for the concept, not for the app itself.
look like a great app but i would try it only if it could store more home locations otherwise enabling/disabling/forgeting it might consume too much power/availability/effort... i'll be following updates to see if this changes and install. tnx
and there are not that many network antennae in your town, this might not work so well. as others have said, it needs a manual override so that when you know you are home and your phone thinks you are out you can educate the smart device. from the glass half full perspective, it can help you find the network antennae in your neighborhood.
It works just like it's supposed to and never failed me. I set it for home and as I pull in my driveway it's already connecting! Great app!
Just leave it set at default 2000. At 500 it never turned on my Wi-Fi.
... but it doesn't. Displays the wrong location, no way to refresh.
Not for people in small towns..
Then it stopped working for me for some reason. Had to move on to something else. :(
Good
I tested it for two days. My Galaxy Note reports that this app itself takes 8% of batrery. In the name of saving battery this app drains battery. I am uninstalling now.
I love it
Works simple
This AP has no idea where you are at any given time if you live in a city w/ more than one cell tower.

Exactly what I need. Not just for battery savings, but also for wifi security in the wild. Multiple AP toggle locations would make WiFi@Home more appealing. Would that feature cost in battery savings? First home set was (as usual) 4 blocks off with network locator. Reran set home location with perfect results. Thanks, Achim.
Works well. Understandably it uses coarse network location, but i set my radius to about 2km and i dont have any problems
Dinged 1 star because you can only have 1 "home"
Great app, would get 5 stars for multiple locations. Easy enough to toggle service off to connect to other wifi networks. MyTouch 4g.
Give ya great services u would not believe how great this app. Is until u download the app. And its free. Thats the good thing about it lol dont wait get this app.
Seems to have my location wrong more than 50% of the time. I can be 7900+ meters from home while parked in my driveway. Needs a manual location refresh feature, or something.
Does exactly what is says it does. Activates your WiFi at any location you want to set as home. Great app
If I open the app manually it updates the location properly but otherwise it does not update the location and therefor leaves wifi off when it should turn it on. Removing.
Set my location to Texas when I am in SC! Gor this because I was told it would turn on WiFi when I was at home--Wrong. Uninstall.
I've used this for ages and it used to work great. Now it doesn't grab updated info from GPS or even locate my home network. With the radius so large, I may as well just turn it on myself.:(
Hi, love the app, but after last update seems that the app is disconnecting the network when of wifi range. This leaves my phone with no data until i notice and have to manually connect via settings. Please take a look.
Should have the option to use gps to set your home location if it gets the estimate too far wrong for you and the option to remember multiple networks/locations is a must for future update sometime. Then 5 stars. Other than that its on point : )
...then it changed my home location by itself to somewhere about 5 miles away. Google Maps showed my exact spot where this could not.
It used to work really well now it's location is a out by about a mile from home
...
Sets location to whatever cell tower you're connected to. I can't get it to change to my actual home location.
Working on SGS3 again. Love it
Good
Doesn't get my location right if I'm inside or outside. Puts me few miles up the road. Google maps is spot on thou so it isn't my phone.
I like this app except when I'm out at a location away from my home that has WiFi. When I turn on Wifi, this app turns it right back off. Not sure how to fix that, but I do like how it turns off when I leave the house and back on when I come home.
This is a great app for my home wifi Its perfect. THANKS

Used this app pretty seamlessly on an HTC Thunderbolt on Verizon, which was still on Android 2.something. Recently upgraded to a Galaxy S3 on Verizon, and nothing happens when I try to hit the Set Home Location. Unless there's a fix, I will have to look for an alternative to find this same functionality.
It would be nice if you could set more than one location for wifi to be on. It seems to leave wifi off for a long time after I arrive home.
