Rescan Media ROOT for Android
Thank-you so much!!! People don't forget, keep the app installed and reboot your phone once you've done it! Stopped the dreaded media scan! Force closes using cyanogenmod 11
Motorola Defy+ with Android 2.3. This app is free and has no ads. It is supposed to be able to enable or disable the Android Media Scanner, but the application doesn't show what is the status (disabled or enabled) of the Media Scanner. The media rescan does work and reinstates the libraries as per actual smartphone media file content, after deleting the data of the Android Media Storage application (to rebuild the highly corrupted libraries). Thanks to the developer
Its very usefull app. help for me. *after force close, please open gallery again. and.. Taraaaa... Your pic is come back :D
Samsung galaxy Note 2 with DN3 Rom. I open the app and it closes immediately. It tells me there has been a problem. Doesnt work with kitkat. no compatible
Thanks a lot, man. I looked forward to rooting for reasons, half of which was to disable that stupid media scanner.
It does what it is supposed to do. However after disabling media scanning I had to reboot the phone so the media scanner can be stopped at boot. 4 stars cos this was not mentioned anywhere in the description. Btw I am on jb s3 and it works.
I mean. I don't know how well this app works because KitKat is not supported. But I'd really like it to be updated because Mediaserver is a battery drain on every device I've used. Especially on my Nexus 5.
Not sure if it does anything. It is free and has no ads. It is supposed to be able to enable or disable the Android Media Scanner, but the application doesn't show what is the status (disabled or enabled) of the Media Scanner.
Unfortunately rescan media root has stopped. Not working for me I'm always get this error.
I rooted my LG G3 and I gave this app root access, but the thing is, whenever it's "working" it force closes. I'll give 5 stars when you push an update that will work again
I installed this app to stop frequent and obnoxious scanning of my external SD card. Unfortunately, the app has not been able to stop it. I'm uninstalling.
It worked fine for me, did exactly what it should do. But the non-stop media scanning started again 2 days ago, causing massive battery drain. Very upsetting. Clicked on the 'disable media scanning' several times but it still runs even after a couple of reboots. Would love a fixed version of this! I'm on a Lenovo S560, 4.0.4, rooted.
This app does not work. It just force closes. I have root with SuperSU, so that is not the issue.
I'd give it 0, if I could. Every time I open it, it immediately crashes - not a happy bunny right now….
Thank you, for solving my problem . My music player dont recognize my music on my sd card or any other folders. But after using this it solve it immediately! Very easy to use though. Nice work!
Used to work. Upgraded to Android 4.4.4 and it fails 100% of the time.
Not working. Used to work. still scans after boot ... using cm7 2.3.4 HTC wildfire Not working. Used to work. still scans after boot ... using cm7 2.3.4 HTC wildfire
This app is a joke! Trust me, I uninstalled immediately.
Screwed my camera. Not only did this app NOT prevent the "media scanner" from sucking down my battery it also disabled my camera. Performing the app's "undo" function did not fix the problem nor did a factory reset. Now I have a phone without a camera. Why doesn't the dev remove this abandoned app, dangerous to newer android machines, from the store? Grr
I tryed using this on my Rooted HTC Desire 510, but when it says it's working, it force closes. I granted it permission to have SU, but it still crashes.
I am running a VZW Moto X with the stock 4.4 rom with a root exploit. This app crashes on my phone after it gains root privileges.
Thanks! Finally the problem that i had to face for a couple years solved...thanks a lot

My phone takes way too long to scan media at start up. It had been scanning for over an hour when I installed this (even though my biggest directory has a nomedia file in it!) and this app shut it down.
Works as stated. Oddly my go launcher app drawer shifted downwards to where it showed half the app drawer after installing and disabling media scanner. Rebooted and the app drawer was fixed. No idea what caused this but might want to look into this dev. Good work overall. SGSII Skyrocket. UPDATE. This causes problems with other apps that require autoscanning media like "Hide It Pro". Not gonna work for me. -2 stars.

Second time I've ever downloaded an app, and it force closes during the installation phase. The first time? Was from another app by this developer. Second.Worst.app.ever.
OK, makasih.. Setelah install custom ROM, media saya gak kebaca akhirnya dgn app ini semua tuntas..
is there a manual way to do this? It removes the notice but in the background it's still scanning
Never worked on Kit Kat, tried root and regular version. Regular version actually screwed up my s3 so bad I had to factory reset and lost all my daughter's Disney world pictures. Force closed EVERYTHING after scan. even after rebooting. Now I'm using a rooted LG G3 running DeOdexed 4.4.2. IF YOU HAVE ANDROID 4.0 (ICS) THIS WILL WORK PERFECT, IF NOT, I DO NOT RECOMMEND!
Thank you so much. This app really do the job. Really help solve my problem. My phone cant populate music and pics in gallery but in file explorer they exist. already try another bullshit media scanner, but this app.. Thank you for whoever create this app.

The only thing that i did knew it was that every time that i run this application to scan media files, after that i must press the "Disable media scanner", otherwise if i exit without press the "Disable the Media Scanner" Process of Media Scanner continue to running as usual... ;-)
but now, it crashes everytime i try to open the app... i have root. S2 i9100 - Kitkat 4.4.2

All media reappeared after running this little application. Thanks !
It did exactly what I needed. All my files that disappeared, showed up after using this app. Thanks a bunch!
It does what it actually says. I wish more apps would. Thanks
Installed on my Galaxy S3 (rooted 4.4.2) and upon startup of the app it force closes.
