Walk for a Dog: Walking for Animal Shelter Support

This has been the best dog walking app for me, it does a good job tracking my dog walks and I'm always surprised to see the total miles my dog and I have walked. I'm pretty sure the Auto save walk when idle is broken though. I have it set to 10 minutes the timer used to stop if I stopped for 10 minutes or more then start back up when I started walking again. This stopped working two app updates ago.

Used to love this app. Now it crashes every time I try to open it. Tried reinstalling, lost all saved data, and still nothing.

WHY does It continue to run in the background, draining my battery, and I can't shut it off? WHY does it unexpectedly shut down when I send or receive a text?

This app is great but too many ads!

I am constantly walking my dogs, so using the app is (so easy!) A no-go brainer. Not only does it have a huge array of charaties to choose from, but it feels good knowing something I'd do anyways is benefitting g even more animals than mine. Bei g able to track where we've walked with the app is also fun and has actually motivated me to explore my own neighborhood way more than I would have on my own. And let's face it, all this walking is good for the dogs, but it's also good for me. Couldn't recommend this app more if I tried.

The biggest problem with the app is that it sometimes stops recording, never records, or resets to 0 and you lose miles your charity should be getting. The latest update didn't fix that. It is easy to use and when it works it's great. My charity is relatively new to the app, so I don't know how it pays out.

I love the app, but it stops working after a short while most times, so my charity isn't getting all the donation that they're due. My daughter and her husband have the same problem. Hi, Wooftrax, I'm using the most up to date version of the app, and aware that I have to be an active walker for my charity to benefit. Thanks for the response, I'll keep trying. Definitely worth it.

I like the fact that I can support a local dog shelter by tracking the walks I do with my dog. Lately its been draining my battery too much and haven't been able to use it as much. I went with 98% battery for a 42 minute walk and came home hit stop walking and battery drained and shut off the phone. Sad I can't use it as much anymore.

This app doesn't work consistently. It will randomly not track a walk--like the one I just finished! My pacer app recorded almost 3000 steps, but this app claims that I haven't walked at all! Very frustrating.

Well meant app that is really just poorly built; could use more talented developers. GPS sampling, running in the background issues, record keeping failures and constant spamming of ads (now with count down timer) on every screen have been consistent gremlins since inception. Forced ad display hiding close box ridiculous. Donation rules suspect. Rush of new positive reviews in last to weeks seem likely more fake than legitimate.

I used to use this app everyday walking my dog. Suddenly it records the time walked, but zero distance. It locates me somewhere in the ocean off the west coast of Africa! It has no idea where I am any longer. An email to the designers resulted in nothing back indicating they acknowledge the problem. I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it still doesn't work. All my other apps which use GPS work perfectly. Very disappointed. If it begins working again I'll rerate it to 5 stars.

How do we know support is being received by the the animal shelter that we are supporting by our walks? I love the using the app, which is easy to use. Just need to know more about how the this actually helps the animal shelter.

I'm running Android 7.0 and 3.17.0904 of the app. This morning while using the app, it shutdown my phone and I was unable to get my phone operational until I plugged it in (the battery was not dead). Looks like it took 45 minutes of using the app to cause it to error out; my 30 minutes walks don't have this issue. Frustrating.

I like making our walks count and seeing the maps of where we've been. Only disadvantage is that it's frequently hard to shut down. Have to restart my phone.

I love being able to use this app to donate to our local dog park. It's also a nice way to track our walks. It works really well. Suggestions for improvement: 1. if I forget to end the walk on my own, the app's notification won't dismiss. Also, when you click on the notification, it doesn't do anything. 2. I would like to know the amount we've donated over time. Thanks!

drains battery beyond all belief. a 20 minute walk depleted by battery by 87%.

App does not run on my Pixel XL. It crashes each time I attempt to start it.

I use this ever time I walk my dogs. I love seeing how far we went, the route we took, and the average speed.

Newest version is great. Old one had issues with location. Love it!!

Walk for great causes

This application just keeps getting worse. We had already been dealing for a long while with the notification item being permanent for no reason. Then we started being fed hard to close advertisements with little context and no way to opt out. Now the application can never find a GPS signal on its first attempt, even with clear skies, and even when other GPS aware applications have no problem with location awareness. It has gotten to a point that I am questioning whether I still want to use this application, or not.

I always get a message that the GPS can't find my location and that it might not track my walk properly. This has happened every time I've used it. It also has a tendency to time out before I finish my walk, so I'm not getting full credit for the distance I put in.

I would like it better if it ran in the background. We were walking over an hour, but I had something else open too, and it didn't keep running. Also, I am not sure I like that I get a notification it's going to save in 20 minutes every 2-3 minutes. These will severely reduce the "Time " I can send to help the shelter.

This app has always had the issue where you can't get back into it by using the notification, but was still a really cool way to earn money for dogs. Now it won't track my walk if it is not open. I used to be able to let it run in the background and have my fitness app open but since last update, if I do that it tracks my path but not the distance or time. The app must be the last app opened, the screen can go off but it won't track in background anymore.

11/16 UPDATE- While it seems to remain consistently on now, thw mileage accuracy is poor. Inrun multiple apps when inwalk or run. The other apps might say 1.5 miles and this app will say .95. Is this a method to limit awards to rescues?

I've had this app twice on two different carriers and phones. On my sprint network (which generally sucked) it would time out while I was walking. On my new network and new phone I have had no issues. I love that I can track my walks with my dog to present her fitness level to the vet when she's getting too heavy. Most of all I'm glad that I'm able to help feed other animals in need even when I'm not working or not able to donate out of my pay.

Decent app with a good cause. GPS tracker is a bit off. Shorts all my walks jogs and runs by at least a tenth of a mile. Wish they would fix that. I walk a known track to be 1.2 miles, this app tells me 1.09, with other apps telling me 1.2.

If they add any more junk to the screens it will become unusable. I already donate directly to my chosen rescue, I'm considering uninstalling walk for a dog.
