About Acrosync - a new rsync client

The best wifi sync app for Android is finally here!

Wirelessly transfer photos, videos, music, and documents between your Android devices and computers, such as desktops, servers, NAS, or remote access accounts.
• Convenient and intuitive interface -- a single tap on your device starts the sync, without the need to physically access the computer.
• Fast and smart transfer -- only those newly created or modified files will be transferred. For a partially modified file, only the modified portion is sent over the network.
• State-of-the-art encryption – all network connection are protected against attacks even over insecure networks.
• File corruption never happens – file transmission is verified by MD5 checksums.

More amazingly, Acrosync does not require installation of proprietary server software. This is because Acrosync implements rsync, a mature open-source file sync protocol available on all platforms. By leveraging rsync, Acrosync can magically turn any computer into a file sync server without extra installation.

Requirements on the computers that Acrosync connects to:
• Linux computers must be accessible via ssh.
• Mac computers must have Remote Login enabled.
• For Windows computers, openssh and rsync must be installed, both of which are freely available as independent packages, or as part of cygwin.

Advanced features, such as public-key login, file exclusion/inclusion by pattern, schedulers, are available via a single in-app-purchase (which also removes advertisements).

Bah, why didnt just I trust the prior reviews...all the 1 star comments are valid. Total waste of time. Cannot use a nonSSH rsync service, can't change the SSH port and who on earth would leave a public SSH server on 22?! I don't have a problem paying a couple bucks for app but make it fully functional and state it all up front, not the continual parade to the store.

Y70%
by Y####:

This works fine for rsync over ssh but doesn't seem to support connecting to a rsync server listening typically on port 873. If this facility is available in the paid-for version of acrosync, then how do I access in-app purchases? Web site shows settings screens, etc but can't access them?

S70%
by S####:

It works. Only thing that would make it better is scheduled syncing.

Y70%
by Y####:

Kept crashing when trying to select remote directory.

N70%
by N####:

Without the ability to remove 'ignore server key' - it is unsecure, and you can't do it unless you pay. Can't be called a 'sync' without ability to delete files on remote side, but that too is blocked unless you pay. End result -crippled rsync.

N70%
by N####:

Ok app... But for the life of me can't figure out how to get to the options or in-app purchase screens.

N70%
by N####:

No obvious way to sync to sdcard. Only seems to allow internal storage.

N70%
by N####:

Do not bother

Last updated 2013. This project is dead.

R70%

Free version of this app is useless, doesn't allow you to change the SSH port. If I'm going to run a publicly accessible SSH server, of course I am not going to use the standard port. Can't test it out, so it was uninstalled.

Only supports passwords.

Port can't be specified

You can't even do something simple like change what port it uses without paying money

It did a great job of backing up my Nook to a Linux server. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in getting it to restore to my new replacement Nook. Solve this problem and I'll give it 5 stars, I really want everything back.

R70%
by R####:

This app doesn't work with a typical private key from ssh keygen, and it doesn't work with my sdcard. A complete waste of time, it has few options and is just lazy all round.

S70%
by S####:

Fail... Used to work now force closes... Got 200 meg into a sync and now I can't even load it! Waste of 3 bucks!

R70%
by R####:

Where can I get the source code of rsync backup or acrosync

R70%
by R####:

This product requires in-app purchases but has no method for guaranteeing that key-based authentication and other features are fully and properly implemented. Also, it is unclear how the open sourced rsync program is implemented in a closed source fee based program. This may be a violation of the GPL.

R70%
by R####:

As the title say - source code must be made avaiable

R70%
by R####:

This app was the easiest rsync client to use with ubuntu 12.04. Had no trouble syncing a folder on my computer within 5 minutes of installing. The in-app purchase options don't seem to work. I'd like to see this app improved; it needs a functioning purchase feature!

R70%
by R####:

For each action or option a separate payment, even for the most fundamental with no way to test it in advance... That said it work ok

B70%
by B####:

A very simple app and while that is appealing at first it will become a problem. While the initial install is free it requires quite a number of in app purchases to make it fully functional. I made a couple of purchases but am now going to abandon the app because it just never ends. Much better apps available where the pricing is up front and far more features. DON'T bother with this app.

Copies files back and forth between my Galaxy S3 and Fedora Linux desktop quite well. A bit minimalist though.

R70%
by R####:

On every boot I have to close the application. Everything working as expected but because of that I give 2 stars until is fixed.

R70%
by R####:

I didn't get as far as the money grabbing tactics others have reported, as the remote files I wanted to sync were not in my home directory, and there was no way to select another path (well, none that worked!)

R70%
by R####:

Cannot access the microSD card (/storage/extSdCard) on Samsung Galaxy S3. It is not always obvious why a sync attempt fails: I tried once without results, then synced again and it worked. Still, it can be useful if the limitations won't bother you.

R70%
by R####:

first it's listed as free, then it's in-app purchase doesn't work.

R70%
by R####:

doesn't let me select an existing local directory to upload

U70%
by U####:

Do not bother

Listened to others and saved myself the trouble.. Crap..
