About LectureNotes

LectureNotes is an Android app for note-taking by handwriting on the screen, in particular with a stylus.

It has been designed while having a user at university (or at school) in mind, for instance a lecturer who is using it for preparing her/his lecture or even for actual teaching (by writing on the device and projecting the screen content for the audience) or a student who is using it for taking handwritten notes during a lecture. However, it has found many users outside university, for instance businesspersons who use it for business notes and sales presentations or artists who use it to create sketches and drawings.

Its major target devices are tablets with Android 3.0 or later. The basic functionality works on all devices with Android 3.0 or later, but some which are hardware-dependent such as pressure sensitivity might not.

NOTE: There is a free trial version to test if the app is right for you. The free trial version is fully functional with the exception that the number of notebooks is constrained to two, with no more than eight pages per notebook.

See the help page https://www.acadoid.com/apps/ln/help/ for more details.

Possible issue: For certain functionality, the app requires other apps to be installed: Notebook and folder import, notebooks board restore, and image set import require a file manager app to be installed; image import directly from camera requires a camera app to be installed; PDF import requires a file manager app and PDFView to be installed; export to Evernote requires the Evernote app to be installed; export to OneNote requires the OneNote app to be installed.

Absolutely amazing. I was so frutrated with the watered down version of OneNote for Android, so I searched for the next best thing. Instead, I found the actual best thing! While OneNote and Evernote may have a simpler interface, Lecture Notes has a tool for everything I need with my pen tablet. With unlimited, customizable tools, and an option to add lines of boxes to notebooks, it's better than the real thing. My only complaint is there isn't syncing across devices, but you can export to pdf, or one of the other note taking apps. Amazing!

Best of the Android note taking apps. Admittedly, in my search for a good app I downloaded and deleted this one many times because the notebook setup screen is atrocious. Once I got past that, I liked it. Definitely needs a user interface overhaul though. When I used iOS I really liked Goodnotes.

Make setting Searchable. Menu buttons move on tent selection, so to make some format changes requires to tap te×t Menu icon twice. How to change the tab size? It seems to be set at 2

O70%
by O####:

Very customisable! Hope for vector ink though, so that pdf export can be even smaller. Also, can the hints stop popping up when I open the app? There's also a cursor bug when I use text input and revert to pen. The s-pen hover becomes a text cursor hover.

The app is amazing but I just can't seem to use the export feature! So all my notes are trapped in the app! Let me explain. The mass export to pdf does not change the name of each pdf! It doesn't use the name at all! If I am doing something wrong let me know. Thanks

The app has a lot of good features. Using it for work in the construction industry I would give it 5 stars if I could import drawing at full size (48"x36" worst case). Scaling them down makes them almost useless.

Excellent app using for 3 years in engineering now. Problem with extreme glitching tho on galaxy note 10.1. Is there a way of contacting support for a resolution?? 5star app.

1. Main problem : cannot store the to external card (refuses to change the App directory in the storage settings) , even though the newest android version that I have installed already allows App to do that. UPDATE: After I wrote support about this they promptly replied and the external card issue is fixed. Thanks. Wish list: Would love to see math input recognition ala snote. I know this is not an easy task but would make this App invaluable to me and my math students. Great job. Even though math support is still lagging I will update to five stars based on support!

Great app and very useful. The ability to create and load custom patterns using JavaScripts is a huge bonus, The dev is helpful and very supportive. 24/03/13. Since this previous comment this app has become my most favourite and useful of all. It has been updated and tweaked constantly with great features and tools that really help me in my projects. Love the snap to grid tools. 16/02/18 So after many years of continuous use I am still loving this app. It is now so familiar it is my Word, brainstorm and quick sketch tool. Keep dev'ing Dev's.

This app is super functional, from the widget to all the in depth options you can select to choose which features you want to use and when - I love this app. It's so customizable, and its very responsive for reading and uploading and marking up PDFs. Also love how you can save different color pallettes and create shortcuts to different notebooks and folders on the home screen. Nice work, developers!

I'm a university professor and need to read & annotate a lot of pdf articles, take notes for meetings, etc... Tried all the other apps, but this is hands down the best. Takes a bit of time to import longer pdfs is the only downside. Very responsive dev. Good tutorials available. (edit) And it just keeps getting better. This dev knows what he's doing, and remains actively committed to improvement. Outstanding all around. Can't imagine working without it. edit 1/2018: Works great on Samsung Chromebook Pro which has replaced my 10.1 tablet.

Definitely one of the most versatile and useful handwritten note taking apps out there. I've looked all over for several of them and this one just outperforms everything by a long shot. It was a good replacement for S note. Definitely well worth the price I paid for it. It really made taking notes in class on my tablet a million times more practical.

While the app takes a bit of time to get used to and set up, the rich features and deep customization options make LectureNotes a powerful note taking app (my favorite feature is finger for erasing, stylus for writing!). Now, all I carry around is my tablet since LectureNotes has replaced all of the notebooks and lecture slides I used to carry around.

Anyway to disable the capacitative buttons? Sometimes the application tends to exit as one is writing. Would be perfect.

The greatest note taking app. Used it throughout my time in university and I couldn't imagine note taking without it. Thank you to the developer for making such a useful tool! A must have for any student. Used on note tablet, note 4 and now note 8.

This app is working great, I just wish there was a way to toggle the zoomed input area on and off without having to go into the menus. Overall an excellent way to take notes in my classes.

I can't believe I had been using Microsoft's One Note when this app was around. It is highly customizable, riddled with features and very intuitive. Worth the penny.

So far...excellent. Would be great if you could have 'infinite' paper size as I like to use mind maps. I love this app though. I use it instead of paper at work.

This is potentially the best app I have ever used. I teach college Mathematics courses, and I use it daily (from my Samsung Chromebook Plus) to work problems with my students. I have also used it for recording lessons prior to class time so that students could review materials. The developer is an amazing developer, and they respond to every email I send, within the hour. I had an issue with the encoder on my device, and I was given steps to remedy it.

R70%

Almost perfect. The pictures are really bad. I have to use CamScanner to clean them first, and then, insert them into LectureNotes. It is a nightmare.

R70%
by R####:

The app does exactly what I needed, customizable platform to take lecture notes and not cluttered by all irrelevant features as in OneNote or other mainstream apps. Lacks cloud features and a bit confusing to set up the storage location.

O70%
by O####:

I really like this application. One area of improvement is the scrolling of the page. When writing, the app does not scroll, you need to tap the hand icon to scroll. When scrolling, the app cannot unless you tap the pen. I am not sure if you could do away with these tappings and enable 1 at a time, like Samsung notes. When i am writing, it automatically don't scroll, and vice versa. It will improve the ergonomics of this great app.

R70%
by R####:

Definitely the best note-taking app I've used. It works great on my tablet, and helps me keep notes organized. It's maybe not as user-friendly as some other apps, but it probably has the most features, and is worth trying if you're using a tablet for class notes.

R70%
by R####:

Best app out there without a doubt. As someone who has tried all the other ones available this is definitely the best. Been using it for 4+ years and have not run into something I couldn't do with it. Excellent support from the developer.
