Zero Motorcycles for Android
Update: 5/5/17 new software. Same problem....not fixed as tech promised it would be. Disappointed they didn't fix a show stopping bug in this release. Original: While being able to see some stats is fun, the key feature I wanted was to be able to adjust the performance settings on the 'custom' profile on the bike. In this version (December 2016), I can change the settings but they don't save to the bike. The alternative to adjusting them myself is going to the shop to have them do it on their computer. Eagerly awaiting the next version and hope this show-stopping bug is fixed. Others are reporting the same issue (Bike is a 2014 SR). Will happily upgrade to 5 stars when fixed.
As of August 2017 the app doesn't push the custom settings to the bike 2014 and newer. I called zero and they said it's a known issue and they are working on it. Well get to it guys!
App. V1.5.7, Android v7.1.2. 2017 DSR. Bluetooth doesn't connect without going through pairing. Not worth the effort. Love the motorcycle though.
It's nice to have the portrait mode now. But we still can't add the voltage to the riding screen which is important in troubleshooting the 2014 SR and its low battery early drop out issue. I can get it by stopping the bike but I'd rather be able to watch for a sudden drop or something, record video of it. We need to get the data to fix this issue. Or at least get enough warning to not get stranded. Voltage drop is the thing to watch according to electric terry
Updating review as the newest version got worse. Now I can't download log files successfully, and I can't make changes to custom mode settings. These were working before.
2013 S does not pair with my new phone. I get an error about a screen overlay. I also wish I could customize the spool size in the settings instead of having to go to the dealer.
"firmware updates not available on rooted devices" harsh, so now there is no point hoping the 2014 model can be updated. Could do with some more features and maybe the ability to change sport and custom not just eco
The original app worked at about 95% the next update didn't work at all, this update opens but doesn't conect. I have a 2014 DS, I hope the older bikes won't be forgotten. 4 stars for the older version.
Can I update the firmware on my '14 SR? Great app over all.
This is so... 2010, to have an application for info about the bike, ride but doesn't update the bike's firmware over the air. When will this feature be available? The dealer asks for 100$ for a firmware update in order to maintain the warranty, it is ABSURD.
Love the app & my ZERO SR!!! Beautiful.
This app does a great job with all the basics.
Excellent!
It's OK and works kinda, mostly. But there are too many problems for me to give a good review. A year and a half since last update? Connectivity is spotty. I have to close and reopen the app multiple times to get a connection to the bike, if at all. Other BT devices work fine on my phone. Second, many of the data fields don't work. E.g. time to full charge shows on the dashboard of the bike but the app always says NA for that field. Lastly, portrait/landscape issues.
Works for it purpose
I love the ability to modify power and regen for my 2015 Zero SR. Breakdown: The Bike tab and Battery tab both work fine minus the fact that the percentage of charge is a few percent off from what the bike shows. The Road tab the calculation for money saved and cost per mile shows 0. This is a simple calculation and there should be no reason it doesn't work. The gear tab, adjusting ECO does not adjust ECO, it actually adjust a "Custom" mode. Simple update. A request to select temp C and Miles separate.
Will not connect after a few times. Blue tooth worked showed my bike I set some stats a little while later it just failed to connect it would re pair up but not connect. Uninstalled it reinstalled it same thing.
Used to be great but money saved vs. Gas feature stopped working months ago. Range to empty only updates every 10 miles for so.
Will be nice when the features all work. Money saved vs. Gas and cost per mile calculator are not working. Would be nice if all screens would work in landscape and portrait mode instead of having to turn the phone while on the mount to be able to read screen.
Problems with charge cycle count
Work
A useful piece of software for the Zero motorcycles. However it would be a lot better if the app logged ride statistics (time stamp, then speed / power usage etc) say every 2-3 seconds, which then could be then downloaded to your computer. This would be useful for analysing riding behaviour. Downsides. - Localisation really needs to be better, you only have the option between Metric and Imperial, which means if you want temperatures in Celsius, then your stuck with having your distances in kilometers. It would be a lot nicer to be able to set these separately. - While riding the "Distance to Empty" seems to work in multiples of 8, making it very hard to work out the current estimated range, it really could do with being made more accurate on the next version.
Sort of works. Even newer version is a bit squidgy. Needs link to phone's GPS. Need sound out to tell when turn signal blinkers are on
Verry nice
I love the fact that there is an app for my bike, and the extra info I get on the riding screen. But there are too many problems for me to give a good review. First off, connectivity is spotty. This app is awesome. The ability to not only see your vehicle's performance stats on your phone, but also to CHANGE your performance parameters from your phone is incredible.
Compatible with my Ainol Fire Novo 7 Jellybean 4.22 (CM10.1) and my HP Touchpad ICS 4.44 (CM11).
Galaxy S3 Really enjoy the amount of options you can change. Love seeing the savings at the end of each month is great also
The app has worked flawlessly and pairing with my Zero was painless. I did have to read up on how to put the bike into pairing mode myself since the guys at the bike shop did not know how to. Now I just need to install a handle bar mount and a usb plug on the Zero.
Does everything it should. Navigation would be nice
Nice and handy way to go into more detail on my usage, and really cool to be able to adjust performance from the app itself! An update with some additional features such as GPS tracking would be great!
Gud...1...
Fuclin crap
Works great with Samsung Galaxy Note II. Syncs quick with the bike. It's nice to have control of my ride. No other bike has this.
Although I only tested the demo mode, it looks great! Can't wait to connect the it to a real zero bike!! Congrats
As the title says, it's a not collection of what are essentially screenshots showing what it would look like if you had your phone connected to your Zero motorcycle. Other than that, not much to see or mess around with which is understandable. Due to that, I give 3 stars and for the app and layout itself. I'm looking forward to finding someone with a Zero motorcycle or it may even finally get me to go visit my nearest dealer.
Leave it to the Zero crew to come up with a great tag along app for their bikes.

Just bought a brand new 2016 SR. This app is full of bugs. Bluetooth is apparently not a standard profile connection (the status icon on the phone doesn't show a connection) and the connection is very flaky. It drops or won't connect in the first place, and even if it's charging I have to turn the key on and hold the mode button in order to (re)connect. The time to full charge dial is permanently stuck at 00. The app won't run in the background and maintain a connection if you try to use the phone for anything else like navigation or music, so switching back won't work because it won't reconnect without a hassle. I wish the Sport and Eco modes could be adjusted. I want more regen in both of those modes, and it would be nice to be able to lend the bike and turn down the max power and top speed for a beginner friend or someone else that I don't know or fully trust.
