WP & UK Birding Checklist for Android
Since update taxanomic order all mixed up. Also I cannot find subspecies.
Best bird app
After trying several other birdlog apps this was one of the best. It has everything I need and more that is easy to use. Control the lists and add several logs to a bird seen. As an addition It has illustrations to confirm identification and a couple of photos. Add date, location, notes, calls, photo, male female & juvenile. Unfortunately for no reason, all my logs, notes & dates had suddenly went wiped clean and will not restore. I am really upset about this.
An excellent app, and really good value for money considering all the work that must have been done in putting all this information together! @Michael and others - please take the time to read the app description above. The photos and sounds are separate downloads (at no extra cost) - it's all explained in the description above.
There are several enquiries about the lack of photographs with this app and I contacted the provider with the same issue. NO RESPONSE!!. Don't buy it! I want my money back!!
Great work on the latest update. Loads in 1min now, used to take 10-15mins. Great app. HTC desire
I can't get my HTC Desire S to work this properly. I've got all the pictures and sounds dowloaded and unzipped but won't link to birds in list. Help!
Very impressed, excellent app. @ Mugwash on 6th December, 2011. I believe you installed this version and then un-installed the demo and removed the 30 or so birds which are common to both versions. I expect if you reinstall the files and then "scan photos & sounds" again all should be well.
Excellent and ever improving app. Very useful.
I downloaded this and it is very useful indeed. The only problem I have with this version is that some of the more common UK birds seem to be missing (Wren, House Sparrow and others. I have also downloaded the UK Only (Demo Version) and they are shown there. I suspect the problem may be me but any help is welcomed.
Excellent as bird checklist (its purpose) and also pretty good for bird identification (my main use) unless you are a beginner. I have just spent a few hours adding on around 400 of my own bird identification recordings. Very professional.
The best birding app on droid, so customisable, keep updating it.
This app just works - no fuss, no clutter. Perfect except it's a little slow on the HTC Wildfire (but everything else is slow on the Wildfire too). Hope you have a Southern African version in your pipeline.
Not really a review - more a request for help. The link to the downloadable files takes you to DriveHQ. If you do this on a PC it blocks you as this is Duncan's secure area. If you click on the link from the Android phone, it does take you to the download screen but requires you to download a download manager and there are only versions for Windows or Mac - not Android phones! How can I download the files to my PC?
Thanks for zoom would like double tap to zoom for 1 handed use and one click for next pic rather than menu then arrow★★★★★
Great app, good value, looking forward to more... Duncan has delivered the zooming, makes it so much more usable, any thanks
Finally a UK bird app for Android! Downloading the extra files from within the program is straightforward. Great work!
Thanks, upgraded from demo version and works as expected.
This is a must for traveling in this area
Excellent
Great app.
Best bird app
Love the pictures and sounds - useful aide memoir when out walking
I looked at a few other bird guide apps before downloading this one and I'm not disappointed: Very comprehensive list of WP birds with decent photos, maps, notes etc. I also like the idea of being able to log my sightings along with a GPS location. All very simple and intuitive to use. For me it was especially important to be able to store the photos on the SD card as my phone's internal memory is small and this seems to be one of the few bird guide apps that lets you do that. In summary, its well worth the small price !
Excellent customer support , great communication , very prompt responses to emails. This is a great app , that is backed up with excellent developer support. We had an issue loading this app to a tablet , Duncan understood the issue, explained in easy to understand terms on what he was doing and then did an up date so that the app worked. Thanks for all your help!
Fantastic developer support. Prompt replies to my emails. The latest update to include a text size option for the extended descriptions as discussed by email. Brilliant. Thank you.
Thank you! really easy toset up and use and the ability to display spp by Latin name really useful when discussing spp abroad.
Brilliant app. Much more than expected. Took a while to load the photos, sounds, maps etc but easy enough if you simply follow the instructions through the readme file. All photos etc saved to SD card despite the suggestion that they must go to internal memory for Samsung Galaxy. Initially concerned that my phone appeared too slow to load the relevant photo but after it has been viewed once photos load quickly the next time. Should serve as a reasonable field guide as well as a checklist app. And you can add additional or alternative photos as well ! Great value. Only just got it so have not tried using the logging facities but they look OK.
Very useful both on the field and as a logging device. As a photographer I really appreciate to be able to add my own pics! Descriptions, voices & maps can be edited too, to suite your own needs.
When the app is complete it will be very useful . It would be great if you could add your own photos and incorporate data from the web
I use it every day at my job. Keep up the god work
Well pleased with this app! Gone are the days of the little black book ~} "birders do it in the field"
This is a really serious twitching app and therefore rather too much for me! It could do with clear levels of filtering to hide the hundreds of species that I will never see in the UK. That said, once you have found a species in the database, there is usually a good range of photos, comprehensive descriptions, range maps and calls & songs. The latter have proved particularly useful in the field to aid identification of hidden birds singing in the bushes (and to elicit responses in some cases). Good logging pages.
Read the read me! It's necessary to download and transfer sound files etc. Do this and you have a very versatile field guide with superb logging options. And a really helpful author. Contacted me just in case I was the one who had a recent problem and moaned in the review. You can't do better than that! Much recommended.
Really useful for logging sightings that can be broken down into male female and gps locations, exported saved, not sure it's great if you want to work out what a bird is, fantasia that you can add your own images and sounds, just would be nice if this was more a function within the app, instead of using pc explorer, instructions for adding the downloadable content was easy, even manged to do it on my device, happy with my purchase, keep up the good work
A great app just got a lot better with the last update. For those throwing their rattles out of there pram Re: photos & sounds should head on down to specsavers! The instructions for doing this are made abundantly clear in the text above. Many thanks dev.
Love it use it all the time!
Easy to use
Had a bit of a kerfuffle downloading the pics, but I'm pretty sure that was as much due to my lack of technical ability than anything else. I found it difficult to understand the instructions but had great guidance from the developer and I got there in the end. As for the app itself, it's brilliant, I love it.

Since the new update the taxonomic order has been mixed up, and alphabetical order has A through to E at the end.
