About Type of Modern Kebaya 2017
Kebaya is not only to beautify the wearer, but the kebaya has its own historical side that never escaped and apart from kebaya itself. Now it's time we look at some of my writing about the history of kebaya, so that we as the nation's generation, not only love batik for no reason, but love batik with various, including one is because kebaya is one part of our ancestors history.
Kebaya - derived from the Arabic word "abaya" which means clothing. Trusted kebaya came from China hundreds of years ago. Then spread to Malacca, Java, Bali, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. After hundreds of years of acculturation, the clothes are accepted in local cultures and norms.
Before 1600, on the island of Java, kebaya is a clothing worn by the royal family there. During the Dutch period of control on the island, European women began wearing kebaya as formal attire. During this time, kebaya was changed from using only mori fabrics using silk with colorful embroideries.
A similar outfit called "mistress kebaya" was first created by Peranakan people from Melaka. They wore it with beautiful beaded sheets and shoes called "shoes manek". Now, the kebaya lady is undergoing renewal, and is also famous among non-Asian women.
Over time, Design Kebaya changed and had eroded the times. Especially during the Japanese occupation, when the creativity and productivity of the nation is pressed down to the lowest level. The Japanese occupation in Indonesia cut off the trade and textile equipment of its supporting equipment, eventually many closed kebaya production houses and only a few batik companies could survive.
