Leaf Spy Lite for Android
Why does this app need access to your phone, photos and wifi connection information?
I have a cheap ELM327 that works. I'm not sure that I need the full version. I bought the full version, anyway, just to support the product.
Doesn't connect
Love it!!!
Its very flakey using Bluetooth, most times it doesn't work. Thats because there are too many dodgy Bluetooth dongles out there. Try and get the wifi dongle.
Too many permissions requested, ridiculous.
The recommended device for connecting with our Nissan Leaf damage the computer, leaving us with fault codes that we had to take back to the dealer to resolve
On my nexus 6 with Android 6.0 its getting reconnected. After I switch to another app and back there is no way it connects to odb tool anymore. I have to disable Bluetooth entirely and then enable back. Also I have ui issues that messes up many labels under the graph
The three screens I can see on my Note 5 are a but informational, but the menu doesn't work, so I can't change any settings or see any other functionality. I wouldn't buy the paid version until these basic bits if functionality are fixed in the free version.
It needs to have more features and be easier to use if you want us to consider the pro version
Can't understand why it needs access to GPS position, phone calls, photos, contacts etc.... tell me how my battery is don't spy on me?

Does it need you to start wiring up your car? Or its WiFi and Bluetooth can it get info without? If wiring why the WiFi?
I used this app when looking at a used Leaf on a car lot and during the 200+ mile drive home. Great peace of mind to know exactly the status of the battery.
Well I've often wished I could check the battery charge status as the guess-o-meter bars showing sometimes seem inconsistent. So I took the plunge and ordered a Konnwei KW902 as recommended. Thought I was going to have to return it at first as the only thing I manged to pair the bluetooth to originally was my solar panel invertor! That didn't really help. Actually there is a push button on off switch KW902 which wasn't apparent at first given it is under the steering wheel. A mirror showed pushing the butto woke it up. You'd think the OBII adapter's instructions would make that clear, but they don't. Once it was paired I had no trouble getting the % state of charge. If only I undertstood the other graphs displayed! As to the App, as others have said, why does it need access to exact GPS Location, be able to modify the phone status and identity, have access to photos and other media, view Wi-Fi connections and Device ID & call information? Surely all it needs is access to bluetooth. Tne other items suggest data harvesting but for what purpose? I'd like to upgrade to a paid version but given these issues I will probably not actually keep the app on the phone. I've a suspicious mind.
I've now purchased two obd2 device. Both pair with my phone but then return an error message when leafspy tries to access them. Massively frustrating and a waste of time.
Hi I'm having a issue the first few days when I check the battery it gave all the 96 bars in blue after few days after i checked again most of the bars are in red and only 5 bars blue

Had a bit of trouble consistently connecting to OBD port. But great introduction to this app and verifying that it works before purchasing the full or pro versions. I'm going to purchase the Pro version now.
Used it to verify BT would work and could communicate with S3. Nice to know something works before spending money. Bought pro version and it works great.
After buying and installing the required ELM unit on my 2015 Leaf, I couldn't get Leaf Spy to connect. Is the problem Leaf Spy or is the ELM unit defective? I don't know. I visited the "website" (a forum page) and came away more confused. Apparently you need to be more technically inclined than I am to appreciate Leaf Spy. For me, the process was frustrating and I decided to make do with the tools at disposal (Nissan's displays).
This tool is really only ment to help configure the blue tooth obd2 adapter with your android device, only basic info available in the lite version, like SOC or state of charge, which is the measure of remaining battery power, GID, which can be used to calculate wattage (GID * .08 = kilowatts currently stored) battery temps and a graph of individual battery packs and how balanced in terms of voltage they are.
I want to improve my mileage & understand if my leaf is problematic or my driving style is poor or my leaf battery is no good but my god, I can't make head nor tail of the info your app provides. I hoped this would scream the obvious to me but it doesn't. I don't have the time or energy to figure it out. So what's the chance you might employ a novice to vet your app? I'm sure its great and the info relevant, I just can't spend what you're asking when I'm struggling to get what the hell it is offering!
Gives good basic car health. Works on nexus 5 with kitkat
Anyone who wants to know the nitty gritty details of the LEAF battery needs to run, not walk, and get this app.

Worked perfectly with my adapter, but not my phone. Graphs were all messed up and got a Java error when I tried to go into the settings that messed up most of the options. Maybe it will work better with my tablet.
