Der Verein zur Förderung des EHC Freiburg -Das Wolfsrudel e.V.- wurde am 15. Januar 2002 gegründet.
Die Gründungsversammlung fand in der Schneeburg in Freiburg statt. Der Eintrag ins Vereinsregister erfolgte am 7. März 2002.
Die 19 Gründungsmitglieder setzten sich in erster Linie aus den Initiatoren und Helfern der "Aktion 5000" zusammen, die am 16. The inaugural meeting took place in the snow castle in Freiburg. The entry in the register of associations took place on 7 March of 2002.
